As a pro-Hamiltonian, I would have voted for John Adams. He certainly had flaws and mistaken views, but under his leadership America grew stronger both militarily and economically, and became a respected nation. He played a part in our system of justice, such as the right to counsel and presumption of innocence. And we should not forget, John Adams advocated for American Independence, was perhaps among the most influential members of the Continental Congress, and was instrumental in achieving the "Treaty of Paris" which required Britain and France to recognize the USA as a sovereign nation.
