I have heard that Pre-trib wasn't even taught until the early 1900's and that it was brought about by some women's dream.
Is it true that until this time the Baptist faith believed the resurrection of the saints was after the tribulation and prior to the wrath of the Lord?

Hi Walls,
I started a thread on this topic in the theology board entitled 'Pre-millenial dispensationalism-Baptist?', and we've been chewing this one back and forth ever since. You're welcome to join the fray... :D

I was studing out the other versions the other day and came across some scary info pertaining to the pretrib theory. If in fact pretrib was unheard of in our history, then why do so many follow man's teachings? Doesn't the Bible warn of false prophets and teachers, especially those in sheep's clothing? The Bible says to watch, our history shows that the Baptists have been sleeping and that the Devil has crept in unawares. It is no wonder we are seeing and going to continue to see the great falling away. How sad!

My pastor today was talking about this and he said once again that pretrib was an unheard of term until the 19th century.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
Is this not where Baptists are today? -
Despite pretrib being unheard of before the 1800s, it is NOT the "strong delusion" of 2 Thess 2.

The question is not when it was taught, or by whom. If it was, we'd all be Roman Catholic, because that system held total sway over Christendom from 325 to 1517.
The question is: what does the Bible say? Justification by faith and salvation by grace were virtually forgotten doctrines for over 1,000 years--but the Bible is plain that they are the truth.
