There's not a single example in the entire New Testament of anyone speaking in tongues in order to communicate with foreigners either!

You can slobber out a tub of gibberish and think it's a prayer language, but nothing comes of it. The Holy Spirit, who is himself God, does not need our flapping wet tongues to accomplish anything. Reading a Bible translation in a language we don't know, pronouncing the words as best we can, would be better. But it wouldn't help us to feel we're all mystical.

so the experience that happened at pentacost does not count?

the Jews came in from many different regions/areas, heard Apsotles speaking in their native dialect/tongues, they were foreigners, correct?

Yes, they were real and actual languages as the Greek tells us they were.
What languages they were we are not told. The Bible is not required to tell us everything we want to know, only everything God wants us to know.
The languages spoken were a sign for the Jews. (1Cor.14:21).
In all three cases in the Book of Acts, where languages were spoken) there were Jews present. It is evident from Acts two that they were actual languages spoken--at least 13 different languages were spoken. That is why it is called the "gift of languages."
"How hear we every man in the language in which we were born."

So also you, unless you utter by the tongue speech that is clear, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking into the air. There are, perhaps, a great many kinds of languages in the world, and no kind is without meaning. If then I do not know the meaning of thelanguage, I will be to the one who speaks a barbarian, and the one who speaks will be a barbarian to me. [I Corinthians 14:9-11].

There were at least 13 different FOREIGN nations represented on the Day of Pentecost.
There were 3,000 saved that day.
There were at least 13 different actual languages spoken on that day?

How many kinds of gibberish can you speak?

Notice the guidelines listed were for PUBLIC use of the gift on tongues, that God would speak forth through that to the local assembly, NOT a personal prayer tongue!

This thread is not about me and my experience...it is about the tongues as a prayer language! Stick to the scriptures!

This is the problem with Charismatics. They only have their agenda and no biblical interpretive skills. They just do not know their bible at all.

You are denying the Word of God.
They spoke "the wonderful works of God" in at least 13 different languages to at least 13 different ethnic groups or foreigners. That is communication.
They said: How hear we every man in our own tongue or language. Preaching is communication. You sit. The preacher communicates the Word of God to even though you may not say anything. They communicated the wonderful works of God in different languages. The miracle was in them speaking different languages--the gift of languages.

    You stick to the scriptures.
There are no scriptures that speak of a private prayer language. None whatsoever. The only thing on this subject that any of us can refer to is your experience and gibberish. It is not found in the Bible anywhere. How do you expect us to defend something that is not in the Bible? Ridiculous!
So, yes this thread is about your unbiblical experiences which are not in the Bible.

If you want to prove otherwise tell what languages you pray in: Ukrainian, Uzbek, Chinese, or just what language is it, and how many?

I do not have a problem with that scripture! I agree! We should not speak in tongues in the assembly without an interpretation! It does not benefit the listeners!

The salvation was through the preaching of the Word by Peter! Not tongues!
