KJV:
"The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD."
NIV:
"To man belong the plans of the heart,
but from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue."
NASB
"The plans of the heart belong to man,
But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD."
From a Calvinist perspective, no doubt the KJV is clear (Unless I can't read English, which is possible) that God prepares the heart and the tongue to answer. Whereas the NIV and NASB man takes care of the heart and God takes care of the answer.
Which is correct ?????????????

UMP,
I don't know about you but I have at times made plans to do some things and God has providentially seen that I did not go in that direction. I do believe He guides our lives toward His perfect will. Sometimes the Lord gives us words that are convicting or are edifying to those we minister to in our lives. We can give them the truth and yet do it in kindness rather than in a wrathful way.

IF and means also or is truly a conjunction.
Here is the phrase from Strong's:
The context is not speaking of what we plan to do in our lives but is speaking of the preparations of the heart in worshipping God.
Then vs. 9:
But what is a man's heart?
