sorry to disappoint bro. Jim, whilst i am chinese and do speak chinese (mandarin) and its dialect (cantonese), and i understand but not speak other chinese dialects (like hokkien), I must admit that i'm most comfortable in English. However, given my present company, I shall have to suffice (poorly) as resident multilinguist.

Pastor Bob... sorry, but Altavista is good for a laugh. No body who's doing real translation work can rely on a computer to do it for them!

Language is just too complex.

the King James men respected the Word of God so much that they italicised the words they added for readabilty and comprehension in the English language because you simply can't translate word for word in that string of words from one language to another (as altavista does). (syntax, you know?)It's just not comprehensible.

So i don't think that english spanish english section holds water at all.

The truth is that there are several varying editions of the KJV. It is impossible to say "Use the KJV to translate" when no one will explain which one to use. It is VITAL to this debate.

Once again let's go to Acts 2. Do you suppose all the folks that were hearing the works of God in their native tongue were hearing something less than the "Hebrew". Your guys total lack of faith in God's ability to preserve his words is outmatched only by your willfull ignorance to who created those laguages in the first place. How can Paul or Jesus for that matter, quote the Old Testament in Greek(when it was originaly spoken in Hebrew)and still be a perfect word for word inspired translation????????????????? "AS saith the scriptures..." It's simple!!!!

Mt 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Mr 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Lu 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

And the true bible believers said, AMEN!!!

I totally believe God preserves His Word for us today, but He is not so powerless that He stopped doing it in 1611 (or 1762, or 1769, etc).

Perhaps, G3G, you can tell us exactly which edition of the KJV is perfectly perfect since guitarist knows, but won't tell us?

By your own testimony, Jesus and Paul cuoldn't possibly be 100% inspired when quoting the Old Testament, because, according to the any version mind set, no translation can be 100% perfect. Acts 2 tells me that the KJV1769 is the perfect version? What translation are you using, my brother. I don't see anything about an English translation in that passage.

as i said earlier, the chinese bible is the word of God as much as the english bible is to english speakers.
God loves all the people of the world, not just the speakers of the hebrew language or greek.

The OP was about translating from English for other langauges. What has the fact that each hearer heard the sermon in his own language got to do with the KJV as a standard for translation?

Of course God wants every person to have the Word in his own language. Where do Americans get the utter arrogance to suggest that it should be done from English?

How would Americans feel if the onyl Bible we had was a translation from Luther's German Bible.
