Squire,
Good article. It's amazing that we can read the Bible in public with the same kind of enthusiasm as reading a phone number to someone.
Thanks, those are some good thoughts. -

But fear of an emotional reading is not a reason for reading Scripture in a "Holy monotone".

Animated Scripture reading can be a great thing. I used to read to my 4, almost 5 year old son, from the Beginner's bible. Which is nothing more than an illustrated children's book. He seen the Adventure Bible at a book store and wanted it. It is a full blown bible. Made for pre-teens. My wife didn't think he would like it, but I bought it for him anyway. I read from the Adventure Bible with a lot of animation. It makes it fun for him. He loves being read stories from the bible. Granted I add some to it. I will stop to talk about characters and places more in detail, ask him questions, such as who is Jesus's daddy, what was his mom's name, who was Adam's wife...and so on. I know that a 4year old isn't the target audience of the post. My point is, if animated reading of the bible interests a 4 year old, it can interest an adult. Unless they have the attention span of a 3 year old :)
