I testify that this statement of Skanwmatos is correct.
However, you said this to your Christian Brother
who does exactly as you do:
//So, you use a copy of the bible to evoke laughter from your "friends?" You are, therefore, conditioning them to laugh at the bible? For what purpose would a Christian ever condition others to laugh at the bible?//
For this i believe you, Brother Scan, to be
in error
Your saying this does not advance your goal
of: "I expose the error of KJVOism, but I never hold ANY BIBLE up for ridicule and mockery in order to do so."
In fact, I do the same thing as the one you condemn.
I have not just one but two
KJV1611 Edition reproductions.
It is hard on-line
easier on line to show someone exactly what
I'm talking about the book to which i refer
to when I say "KJV1611" is NOT the same
book as a KJVO uses when they refer to
a KJV1611 (usually AV1611).
I learned this
realy early on the World Wide Web when
i was looking for an electronic copy of the
KJV1611 Edition (there is none) yet
KJV1611, the term, sure shows up a lot
on Google NOT meaning the book i speak of.
Why should I apologize for quoting him? Here is what he said, "I bought an AV 1611 replica for defending myself against KJVO attack and also for comic relief amongst my college friends."
You may agree that mocking the bible and showing it to friends to get a laugh is acceptable conduct for a Christian. I don't.
So, my quoting him is "divisive" but him holding the bible up for laughter, mockery, and ridicule is perfectly acceptable conduct for a Christian. Well, this may come as a shock to you, but I disagree!
Why in the world would you assume I have only one goal in life? I will defend any bible from mockery and ridicule, including the KJV.
You show the 1611 to your friends in order to get a laugh out of them? Shame on you too, then! Oh, and I did not condemn anyone. I chastised him for making a mockery of the bible, just as i chastise the KJVOs for doing so. Unlike so many here, I don't have a double standard. Perhaps you should start a new thread on your own double standards as you have done for the KJVO double standards?

you nor speak more of you to any more.
I tend to believe it is you who cannot, or will not, understand. Mockery of the bible is ALWAYS a sin. You may wish to excuse it. I don't. And if that means you refuse to speak to me, so be it.
mock-er-y
(mok-re)n.pl. mock-er-ies. 1. Scornfully contemptuous ridicule; derision. 2. A specific act of ridicule or derision. 3. An object of scorn or ridicule: made a mockery of the rules. 4. A false, derisive, or impudent imitation: The trial was a mockery of justice. 5. Something ludicrously futile or unsuitable: The few packages of food seemed a mockery in the face of such enormous destitution.
"Paul, an apostle, not of . . . Jesus Christ . . . who raised him from the dead"
--Now Paul is antichrist and evidently resurrected.
Now we all know that these verses do not lead to these conclusions, when taken in full, in context, and in light of other Biblical truth.
I have explained time and time and time and time again how I was not mocking the KJV, but all Skanwmatos can resort to in the end is to use my post on the other thread, ignoring all my subsequent explanations.
I say again--
I was not mocking the scriptures.
If you believe that I was mocking the scriptures, then you misinterpreted what I was saying.
Yes, she would be kept safe in childbearing. Do you deny that?
Wrong again! Now I see the problem!
Pure dishonesty on your part. You clipped the most important part of the sentence. I clipped the part that was irrelevant to the discussion and did not modify your statement in any way.
Same dishonesty.
You can try to explain it away all you please, but your words still speak for themselves. Why not just say, "Yeah, that was a dumb thing to say. I should have kept my big mouth shut but got swept up in the hysteria."
I just took you at your word. That may have been a mistake.
No, you did not just clip the part of the sentence that was irrelevant.
Defending myself from KJVO attack is directly related to the comic relief.
Without the KJVO attack, there would be no comic relief.
Without the KJVO attack, I would say, "Hey, that's a 1611 replica.
It even has the apocrypha! How neat!"
The comic relief stems from KVJO attack, as I have said many times on this thread.
I will admit that I should have phrased my original post more clearly to demonstrate that I had no intentions to mock the scriptures.
For failing to do this I will apologize.
Once again though, I assure you that I was not mocking the scriptures; doing so would be the furthest thing from my mind.
I do commend you for your respect of the word of God, Skanwmatos, and I apologize for inadvertently offending you with hasty comments.
I will take extra care to clarify my posts in the future.
