A recession would help the Dems and labor unions would prefer a layoff to a Republican in the White House.
China has been stealing from us for fifty years and I don't see how putting a stop to that is bad for any American.
China is trying to smash what little freedom Hong Kong has but the NYT has always leaned commie. China is on the march.
Pearl Buck in her novels about China used to recount the Japanese atrocities in China and say that such things are not forgotten but the commies have forgotten all the Americans who died for China in WW II.
The NYT is as yellow as they can be. They represent the opinion of Carlos Slim, a crook who stole the Mexican telephone company and piled up enough money to become one of the richest men in the world. I never heard of him giving a peso to anyone. He owns Trakphone and I wish that he would leave the USA. He is another Soros type.
Good for Carlos Slim! He took a gamble and it paid off. I like people who take initiative.
What gamble? His close friend former Mexican President Carlos Salinas made a crooked backroom deal with Slim and they both cheated the Mexican taxpayers. Salinas is sort of in hiding. His son got busted for running an Epstein homosexual ring in Mexico and is talking about fleeing to Cuba.
He stacked the deck and became rich... bravo.

His bio says that he is a libertarian Wall Street guy educated at Berkeley. I agree with him that the Fed inflation of the Obama years was stupid. I also agree that the Fed should raise interest rates back to traditional normal rates. And I agree that quantative easing will not work again.
I see debt and continued borrowing as the problem. This economy is so weird that I cannot understand how it will last. As for Trump's re-election, the weakness of the Dem candidates should lead to his victory.

There is nobody in the dem party who is a serious candidate. They are just exposing their weakness. Good, we don’t need socialists in office. But trump has not done anything for me... I’m still waiting for him to get rid of the illegals as he promised and where is my non existent tax brake? I have to work for the rest of my life to pay medical bills and outrageous property taxes. Need to do what many my age are doing in NJ... move to Florida!

I think that Libertarians are a little wrong about the economy. Nine Eleven was a great loss of talented people and the financial lost was very great. Now we have lost the will to fight Islam but they have been at war with the world for 1400 years and they have a blueprint to conquer the world. So after Nine Eleven, we had to start from scratch and Rome was not built in a day. Obama undid everything that was good and pulled out the nails on everything that was nailed down. When he saw that no one liked him, he turned to secret police and spies. Trump needs to declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization and shut down the Islamic Society of North America terrorist network. The GOP needs to campaign on cutting spending and stopping federal hiring. On immigration, it seems that Mexico is getting sick of all these foreigners looking for high welfare and trying to beg their way the length of Mexico to storm the American border and force us to pay their welfare because we don't have any jobs for them. And the murder rates in the black areas of the big cities is higher than anything in Central America. Most Latin American governments just shoot their violent criminals so they have an advantage over us in a sense.
Well, why can't the Fed restore traditional interest rates?
