They are already in violation of a U.N. Security Council resolution passed last Friday http://www.foxnews.com/politics/200...hip-suspected-proliferating-weapons-material/

Perhaps we could use the opportunity to test our defense system and shoot it down as soon as it enters international air space.

THAAD is a key element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). THAAD will provide rapidly deployable ground-based missile defense components that deepen, extend and complement the BMDS to any Combatant Commander to defeat ballistic missile of all types and ranges while in all phases of flight. THAAD’s combination of high-altitude, long-range capability and hit-to-kill lethality enables it to effectively negate the effects of weapons of mass destruction at intercept ranges well beyond the defended area.

It has been scheduled for deployment in 2009 but may not be as yet. -

The purpose would be to shoot down the missle.
This would be very different than firing at a country.
Besides which THAAD is not an explosive missle. It simply knocks out the target with it's mass.
I believe that we did this a couple of years ago with another country that was testing a missle.
It would be interesting to successfully shoot down a North Korean missle from South Korea. That would probably give North Korea a little something to think about.
What would be the fun for North Korea in having ballistic missles if we can shoot them down at will? -
It appears that THAAD has been deployed.
Apparently we are setting the defense against the North Korean's missle in Hawaii.

"I've directed the deployment again of THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) missiles to Hawaii and the SBX (Sea Based X-Band) radar has deployed away from Hawaii to provide support," Gates said. "Without telegraphing what we will do, I would just say I think we are in a good position, should it become necessary, to protect American territory." -
However 'first stike' would be them, not the USA
Also, no it would not wipe out Seoul. We do have low-yeild warhards and the like. -

This is like War Games from both sides.....but not.

Are you suggesting that the U.S. should not have a defense system against missles fired on our country?
Are you suggesting that we should unilaterally disarm?
Are you suggesting that we should let North Korea fire their missle and not give it any attention?
Or are you saying something else? -
Maybe he ought to apologize to them for American "agression" during the Korean War.
His apologies work so well in other international situations. -
Has anyone else noticed the uptick in tension since Obama took office? Perhaps Bush, for all his faults, was known as a man who wouldn't mess around with this stuff. They knew if they tried something under Bush there would be a price to pay. Now, perhaps they suspect that Obama is soft, and they are going to push the envelope.

From what I heard this morning, it's not that they are specifically aiming at Hawaii (at this current time, that is), but that missle could be aimed at Hawaii and be able reach Hawaii. From what I heard on the news, they haven't actually said they were aiming at Hawaii, nor is it a fact that they are currently doing that.
If theres an update to this I would like to know more. -
EXACTLY! Never mess with a cowboy from Texas....
I can imagine if NK did hit Hawaii...
Phone call from DC to NK... (3:00 am)
(Read this imagining Obama in his speaking voice)
