Report Shows Obama Administration is Ignoring FOIA Law

    WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) issued the following statement responding to a study by the National Security Archive of The George Washington University that found a majority of President Obama’s federal agencies are not in compliance with the 2007 Cornyn-Leahy OPEN Government Act streamlining the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request process:

    “When President Obama took office, he pledged that his administration would be the most transparent in history. This report reveals how hollow that pledge was, and can be added to the long list of broken promises from his Administration."

    Majority of Agencies Have Not Updated FOIA Rules to Meet Either Obama's 2009 Order or Congress's 2007 Law

    Take a look at the chart of agencies and their status, while remembering Obama's often heard remarks about "transparency" promises during his first campaign. Usually bashing McCain with what Bush didn't do.
