Let me relate this story. Years ago, I was a coach for a T-Ball team (ages 6-8). I had about a dozen or so kids on my team. At the end of the season, we had a picnic. At that time I passed out an award to each child - based on his strength. Of course, there was the MVP, the most improved players, ect. I had a different category fore each kid. One child wasn't exactly athletic, but he was at every game and practice and never was late. His award was for perfect attendance.
What I did was to reward each player on their strengths.

All too true, Salty. All part of the dumbing down of Modernism and the egalitarism of the same.
Nothing wrong with encouraging those who are weak in areas, but to give a prize that appears equal to those who have excelled is really just a slap in the face of them that strive for excellence.
