Romans 13:1(NASB)
1 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
With reference to your Scripture verse. . . . Should a Christian living in China try to protect another brother or sister from being persecuted for the faith, or should he go along with what that Communistic government wants to inflict on the people?
And if you think they should protect a brother--to what extent should he defend him?
Insurrection or not?
Apparently, we believe that God has ordained/allowed that government to have this power.
Act 5:29
"Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."
Obviously, when there is a conflict, we must follow the Lord's teaching regardless of what governing authorities say.
Interesting question, Ray.
I think we should protect our brothers and sisters in Christ, but should we do so by revolution?
I have at times wondered about the rightness of our own revolution in 1776.
But it did establish a free country where we can worship God according to the dictates of the Bible instead of the State.
