Hey everyone,
Just in case some don't know yet, Congressman Ron Paul of Texas has announced an exploratory committee on a Presidential run. I am greatly excited about this, because Paul is basically my dream-candidate for President. I think he is respected among a wide variety of people--Constitution Party, Libertarians, and some Republicans and Democrats. One thing that must be said for Paul, though, is this: he's consistent. He's even voted against unnecessary funds for his own district and returned money to the taxpayers that his office didn't use. He has no connections with any nebulous secret societies and truly cares about what the Constitution has to say concerning proposed legislation. (He is called Dr. No because he often says no to unconstitutional measures. Paul also has served as an OBGYN, hence the term Dr.) Some people don't like him because of his principles. But what this country needs is someone like Paul to help get us back on track to what our founding fathers intended. And Paul has political experience and some noteriety that a lot of third-party candidates don't have. Please go to his website (ronpaul.org) and check out what he's all about.
PS. I have no official connection with Paul or his office. I just want people to know what a great candidate he is, and if we ever have a chance to get such a good guy in office, it's with Paul's Republican run.
Ron Paul for President!

Greetings,
I get the impression that the GOP will do everything that is possible to keep Ron Paul from being the candidate. He does not appear to have very much support from the Republicans in Congress.

He certainly doesn't. An old-school conservative doesn't have much chance in a party dominated by the doctrines of recycled Trotskyites.

Yes, we had a thread about this last week:

If Paul does miraculously get the GOP nod, would he get the Libertarian nod as well, or would they get their own candidate again?
He might just be a very strong candidate if he makes it through the primaries. I can see him getting support from all sorts of different organizations. -

Hey, thanks for the links. I will have to check those out. It is my understanding that neither the Constitution Party nor the Libertarian party would plan to run any other candidates should Dr. Paul get the Republican nomination. It would essentially be self-defeating if they did. I guess we just need to tell everyone we can about Paul's candidacy for President. He is supposed to be on CNN with Wolf Blitzer on April 4th, I think it is. Maybe it's the 12th. If I find out for sure, I will try to post that.

Ron Paul sounds like the real deal. I like everything I've read about him. Anybody have any bad news on him ? Besides him being conservative ?

While that would certainly be better than the current law on Roe v. Wade, I personally disagree that this is not a federal matter. It seems to me that this is a matter of deprevation of life and liberty without due process and an impossibility to mount a defense, not that an unborn child should need one.
Still, he is more pro-life, and much more consistent anyway, than other person in the race that I've seen.
If that's the only "negative" thing about Paul, then he is still head and shoulders and chest and waist and legs and feet etc above the rest of the field, imo. -

Praise God for anyone who will stand flat footed and defend the innocent unborn child.

I just hope he doesnt end up another third party nut like Perot.

I'm sure the Bush administration, GOP Chairman Mel Martinez and the rest of the GOP leadership will do their best to keep him from becoming the GOP candidate on the ballot in 2008.

Ron Paul is the closest thing that has announced to being what a leader should be. I believe him to be an honest man with leadership ability, a refreshing change.

Why am I not surprised.
