Rudy will get my support if he changes his stance on gun control, gay marriage, & abortion. Not likely.

I think that Rudy will stand down on cultural issues.

I think that Rudy will stand down on these issues. It is up to conservatives to show some leadership and take care of some of these domestic cultural issues themselves. Gun control and gay marrriage are terrible things and I doubt if Rudy will hold to those issues on a national level. As for abortion, he may be persuaded to change to pro-life as time goes by. The important point is that a GOP president needs a landslide margin in the two houses of Congress in order to overcome the liberal Republicans who have bothered Bush by voting with the Democrats. If we fail to win victory in the war against terrorists, then all domestic and cultural issues will be lost in the economic and military collapse.

Rudy has said to his Republican supporters, "I am humbled by early polls that show me leading the race nationally and in key primary states. I am ready for the tremendous amount of hard work that lies ahead to earn our party nomination...."

Bush is far right compared to Giuliani. If he disavows support for gun control, gay marriage and abortion choice, he'll throw away all that he has ever stood for....well, except law & order, that's always been his thing.

Expect to see his handling of 9-11 come under attack.

No, he has stood for a strong defense and that is where he has Hillary on the ropes. The Democrats, Daisy, cannot give a comprehensive answer to our country's future foreign policy because they have no experts in that field. The Democrats want to cut and run from in Iraq in January 2009 according to Hillary and yet they cannot tell the American people what will happen to each and every country in the Middle East, Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Australia if Hillary's plan ever takes place.

Foreign policy overrides domestic issues. In the battle for the GOP nomination, Romney is out of the running because of his membership in a 19th century cult. McCain has already rejected conservative Christians and cannot be counted on in the Senate because he is a maverick. Mavericks do not make good presidents. The others are green and lightweight.

The GOP tends to nominate the leader and right now Rudy is the leader in the GOP and in the nation as a whole, Daisy.

If Gulianni does these things, won't that make him a flip-flopper like John Kerry was in the 2004 election?

Also, how would anyone be able to trust that these changes were not merely changes of convenience that would prove to be only temporary?

He's a former mayor. I'm not sure what he knows about defense.

If he wins, I don't think you'll like him.

Oh, I am sure that Hillary will try to call him a flip-flopper but remember that the Democrat Party has a pro-abortion plank and the GOP has a pro-life plank. Rudy will say that he will stand on the planks of his party's majority, which is a proper stand for any candidate. All candidate have had to stand on planks that the majority has agreed upon.

Furthermore, those the stand against gun ownership is New York City limited and to the detriment of life in New York City. Here in Indianapolis, gun permits are given for personal protection so such a law can work in a big city like New York also.

As for same-sex benefits, etc, Rudy here is Hudson River limited as New York is a major homosexual center, but then so is Indianapolis and we have avoided same-sex marriage in Indiana so far.

And remember, as McCarthy said about Rudy, "...But his positions have not signaled conventional liberalism. He has governed as a limited-government conservative...."

In the upcoming race, Hillary would still be the liberal ideologue and Rudy would be the small government or limited government person whose personal hero is Reagan, whom Hillary and most Democrats still hate.

However, Hillary has no comprehensive foreign policy and she loses to Rudy in the polls even now.

Hillary wants to cut and run by 01/09

Daisy, Hillary is on record that she will withdraw or cut and run by January 2009, her first day in office if she is elected.

Here is what Rudy told his GOP supporters via e-mail:

"...With the War on Terror now in its sixth year, I am confident we will ultimately win because I've seen the strength of America up close. Since leaving City Hall, I have traveled to 46 states and campaigned for 170 Republican candidates across the nation. I've spoken to countless Americans, listening to their concerns and hopes for the future....." Rudy is confident that we will win. There is no napoleonic retreat and defeat in Rudy.

I really like Rudy. I disagree with him but he is the best candidate that the GOP has and he is much better than anyone that the Democrats have in GOP eyes.

Hillary will be defeated if the polls are any indication. The GOP could put a foreign policy expert and Nobel Peace Prize nominee like Richard Lugar with Rudy to add assurance that the GOP is still dominant in mastery of foreign matters.

And yet this section is for debate among all Christians and not just Baptists. Do you plan on debating homosexuality by everyone just agreeing with eachother? Seems to defeat the purpose, but what do I know?

And of course denial is always the best course of action if you wish never to acknowledge another point of view.

Rew 10, the point is this: you'll find quite a wide variety of opinion on the BB as to specific political and social actions toward gays.

But it's pretty tough to ignore Scripture's crystal-clear prohibition of homosexual behavior. The Old and New Testaments are quite clear that it is wrong.

Like I said, he would be a flip-flopper. You know, someone who has one set of beliefs for years and then realizes that these beliefs will never work in a national election, so they simply change these beliefs. Rational excuses are a dime a dozen.

When the author of the book of Timothy wrote this...

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" - 2 Timothy 3:16
...was it truth or did he just FEEL like God inspired all scripture?

Was that verse true or false? If you believe it to be true, then you have cause to believe the rest of the Bible and you will cease from your pro-sodomite positions. If you believe it to be false, then I would encourage you to seek the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal saviour, at which point you will believe the Bible is the Word of God and cease from your pro-sodomite positions.

Rew_10,

From your past posts, it would appear that you are pro-evolution, pro-stem cell research, pro-violent theater, pro-sodomite and the only thing I noticed that you are opposed to is the Bible. Are you pro-Christ?

Moot point. Giuliani, McCain, Huckabee, Romney, Brownback, Gingrich, it doesn't matter. The electorate will put a Democrat in the White House with a substantial electoral majority, and better than 55% of the popular vote. That's as it stands right now. After slightly less than two more years of Bush, it might be an even bigger landslide.

Refus, I am definitely "pro-Christ" as you say and I definitely find it offensive that you extrapolate from my other views the idea that I can't be a Christian.
I was just finding it difficult to reconcile your positions and wanted to hear you confirm that you are a Christian. With that settled, how do you know that Christ is truth if you do not know that the Bible is? Meaning, if you do not have faith that 2 Timothy 3:16 is inspired, how can you be sure John 3:16 is?

Rufus, it is my nature and the way my mind operates to question the unknown and seek answers outside of the box.

None of us can know for sure that any of the Bible is fact in our time here on Earth, but I do hope and have faith that it is(besides all the parts which I don't believe are fact  ). And if tomorrow, all of the Bible was proven false without a shadow of a doubt, would you live your life differently? Would you lose your morals and cease to be a good person?
Sure I would. I would go live like the heathen do and serve my flesh as their would be no hope for tomorrow and no accountability to God.

I chose to live my life as a Christian because I believe in the message of the Bible and in God. Questioning everything comes as naturally as breathing for me, and to not question would be to lie to who I am.
One of the messages of the Bible is that all scripture is inspired by God. Why don't you believe that message?

Guiliani is basically getting the attention in my opinion because of his being mayor on 9/11. This is not the reason to elect someone as President of the United States. Someone should be elected because they respect the views (and follow them) of the Constitution and Founding Fathers. Guiliani is not even what I would call a conservative. The war on terror is not the only issue in politics and culture today, even though it does get a lot of emphasis.

I can understand if some people who view this thread may think that Guiliani is preferable to Hillary. Guiliani (nothing personal against him, but) he is not preferable to someone like Ron Paul, who has formed an exploratory committee to run for President under the Republican ticket. (ronpaul.org)

Rudy says his hero is Ronald Reagan, for whom he worked.

He is the Republican front-runner.

In the Republican Party, the front-runner is nominated unless he does something wrong.

Rudy is a moderate but he is willing and able to fight to win the war on terror and that distinguishes him from the Republican pack of a member of a 19th century cult and of a maverick who openly despises Christians and of a long list of people who are merely trying to promote themselves by being against fighting in Iraq to victory (a Democrat position).
