From reading the source article, it appears that there may be a mindset among some that "cultural understanding" and "racial reconciliation" is a one way street.
Not sure how that will work out.
Perhaps some in that mindset realize that repenting and asking for forgiveness is about being right with God. And that it doesn't matter if the other person chooses to accept the apology or not.
The reason that the SBC should keep quiet is the murders of the policemen and others around the country.
The SBC has no new theological ground here whatsoever and I don't think they have presented a good theological case in the first place.
Instead the SBC is blatantly mixing in politics and doing little more than pouring gasoline on a fire in an attempt to get their names in the news no matter how many more are murdered by the clumsy SBC politicians who have no legal role in this matter.
They should just go back to sleep.
