John, I agree with you, but the KJVOnlyism folks talk the loudest, but they are in the minority of the KJV people. That is simply my point and I get tired of being lumped in with these fanatics just because I believe that some of the more popular modern versions are not worth the paper they are printed on.

Your point is well taken. I think I speak for the majority here of the understanding that using solely the KJV is not the same thing as being KJVO. Many folks here use only the KJV but not KJVO.

this is silly....the KJV did not exist before 1640...how were English speaking people saved before that? Obviously, by the power of the Holy Spirit working in their lives....People aren't saved by translations, they're saved by grace through faith.

When I came to the Lord, I had in my possession at that time a copy of the NKJV. I have led people to the Lord out of the NKJV, KJV, NASB, NIV, etc. And, as I have stated many times, I have an aunt who came to know the Lord reading a paraphrase...Good News for Modern Man from the 1960's. The Holy Spirit can use anything he wants to convict and lead people to God the Father and Son.

And the KJVO myth is as false as they get. It has NO Scriptural support, no common-sense support, and is an outright attempt to LIMIT GOD in how He may choose to present His word.

I believe you realize we all cannot preach from street corners nor go door-to-door, let alone travel to other lands. Hopefully, each Christian will run the particular course God sets for each of us without being jealous nor critical of the course He may have set for someone else.

Do you guys ever use any scripture to back up your position?? I am KJVO and not really concerned what you think about it; but in response to the original post, NO, you do not have to be KJVO to be saved!! Scripture:

John 17:17 ¶ Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20 ¶ Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Now if these verses refer only to the apostles than I am in error. However, I believe this refers to all believers. The new versions have enough truth to save, but not enough to grow. Scripture:

27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.
28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.

The lack of scripture on these posts is not a good thing. You guys seem to think that education and wisdom of age can circumvent the teaching of the Holy Ghost.

God is speaking in Hebrew but "it is written" in GREEK!!!

You suppose they were all getin' a Hebrew lesson or were they all hearing the EXACT SAME THING in their own language. God confouded the laguages, he's perfectly capable of translating it any language without error or your permission!!

Now while we agree that no Bible saves anyone, we must also agree that the ultimate source of our hearing or reading about Jesus is the Scriptures. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing, from the word of God." Given the fact that many people have learned of Jesus from many sources, we must conclude that God is NOT RESTRICTED as to how He may present His facts to anyone.

I know of several Christians who were led to Christ by reading tracts, one of them from reading a tract found in a gas station restroom. All of them found churches to attend, and were baptized. Each of them was eager to learn more about God, and therefore began to spend lots of time reading and studying the Scriptures with veteran Christians. Their first Bibles varied, from the NIV to the KJV. Now, several of them own multiple bible versions, and none of them gather dust as those people eagerly continue their walk with Christ into what for them is 'uncharted territory'.

About 2/3 of the tracts I see contain quotes from the KJV, but the NIV, NKJV, and NASV are well-represented also, with quotes from some of the latest versions now beginning to appear. It stands to reason that if God uses various venues to lead people to Himself, He is not confined to just one version of His word.
