Reversing Bush administration policies, Obama signals that climate change and genetic research will be top priorities of his administration. Finally, science is returning to America. To quote Gerald Ford, 'Our long national nightmare is over!"

The best science which has been produced in the last half century came about thorough government funding of the space projects. As the result of the necessity to solve problems and produce new equipment, many things affecting our everyday life and technology and medicine have been spawned from the existance of this 'out of the world' program of the past. The science of the space program produce many new developments initially to meet specific needs in the program.... but with information shared with the private sector...... not so overly protected by patents..... that it allowed expansion into areas which have helped us all.
The scariest science which is now being produced is the genetic modification of our food crops which gives the patent and control for possessing and implimenting food production in the hands of those few corporations who own the patents, the supply of seeds, and determines who can produce food and who cannot. Funding 'science' for the military research and development does not prevent new things and materials from being developed........ but it places the research, science, and outcomes under 'classified' creations which prevents the utilization of technology and development by civilian industry. The science of global warming is patently flawed....... but funding this will insure that those who want recognition and want to keep jobs in this field will design their experimental models to insure that they get the politically and financially correct outcome.
Science doesn't belong in the hands of government or the military: It belongs in the laboratories of university campuses, the inspiration of scientific scholarship, the research and development programs of industry, medicine, space, technology....such as transportation, communication, etc.
