There is much lacking in his life. However, in life, we often find ourselves working with people who are unregenerate and who are detestable in many ways. Nevertheless, they are made in the image of God and, if we look closely, we can find that image in them. This reminds us that we need to love them and we need to seek to win them to Christ. In my initial post on this thread, I said, "what do I tell my sons about Ted Kennedy?" I want my sons to learn to love people who are not Christians rather than to detest them and sit in judgement on them. I see Christians on this board who do not act properly toward the unsaved and I think it is worth pointing out. When I suggested that, if we love others, they might be converted, one person on the board suggested that this is impossible. When we look at the unsaved this way, we, as Christians, are being overcome by evil. This is not God's will.

Kennedy's family deserves our sympathy and our prayers.

I will not miss him nor regret his passing.

He did too much harm to too many people to be overly concerned with his passing.

I find this to be an amazing assertion. Isn't that the implication of the whole gospel message? "Love your neighbor as yourself." The parable of the Good Samaritan. Healing on the Sabbath. Driving the moneychangers out of the Temple. Zacchaeus. The Beatitudes. I could go on. Maybe there isn't a scripture that says, "Go ye therefore and make the world a better place." But I believe that that is the intent of the bulk of the gospel message.

The Kingdom of God is not focused on making this world a better place. This utilitarian religion is another gospel.

You are right. What a perversion of Christ's message to say we are not to try to make our world better and help people.

    Also try these verses:

It seems there are those who call themselves Christian who have never read or choose to ignore this passage. It is all about helping others and making the world and peoples lives better.

This is one of the hard lessons from Christ that far too many ignore.

Actually, the bulk of the Gospel message is "Christ died for your sins". When you find a command to preach something else, please post it. Christians are supposed to act like Christians, and I find it pretty offensive that the leftists among us assume we do no charity work. And I find it very offensive to have them tell me, after all the corruption & failure of the government's welfare programs, that the answer is more of the same. Jesus also had warnings about fools and money. He also said don't feed those who won't work. Yet the liberals always ignore these verses when they read us the Bible. Where does the bible say to do your giving with other people's money ? Where does it say to assume others don't give ? I thought the left's favorite verse was "judge not...".

You guys go ahead and brag about your giving. Mine is between me and the Lord. The government has proven it'self over & over to be an extremely poor steward of my money, so expect me to fight them when they demand more.

You've piled a lot of baggage on me that has nothing to do with my post. I've highlighted the pertinent comments. My post was merely a comment on something you said. Don't go off the deep end with me because somebody else said something in the past that you didn't agree with.

Seeing everyone as made in the image of God does not mean trying to admire someone who had some very strong anti-biblical views. We can accept that someone is made in the image of God and needs Christ without pulling out bits and pieces to make them look good. IOW, yes, we should want all men to come to Christ but we don't have to admire them or find something about them that is "good" in order to do so. We want them to come to Christ because Christ died for them (or God loves them, or whatever your theology/soteriology is).

I clearly have never advocated hating anyone - not since I became a Christian. And nothing I've said here as been advocating hating or looking down on anyone.

Like what ? You told me I'm missing the bulk of the gospel message. Your message told me I didn't love my neighbor enough. How else am I supposed to take that ?

Those remarks say nothing that warrants the establishment of a dictatorial , atheistic communist state. That seems to be what you Obama lovers want!

Also, Teddy told us we needed to raise taxes on the rich, yet he protected his family's wealth from his own policies. And we need to look no further than his refusal to allow windmills to be put in a place where it would ruin his sunset views on Martha's Vineyard, and get in the path of his family's sailboats. I do not celebrate his death, but while he was alive, he was a hyp-o-crite. There is no other way to describe him.

Here is it. You backhandedly questioned my salvation, and I called you on it.

BTW, Christians will be at the Judgment Seat of Christ; the unsaved will be at the Great White Throne Judgment, so maybe you are the one who needs to study your bible a little better.

It's usually LE who shuts a thread at 3 pages and since she is no longer a mod, I have assumed thats why so many threads keep going even after the 3 page limit. Theres no one else on the job.
