June 10 (Bloomberg) -- Senate Republicans thwarted Democratic-supported legislation that would increase windfall- profit taxes on oil companies such as Exxon Mobil Corp. as Democrats set their sights on tighter energy trading scrutiny.
A lot of us benifit from the oil industry one way or another and we should rejoice that the Democrats didn't get their way on this one!
Unfortunately they'll try again and sooner or later enough Republicans are likely to compromise with them in the spirit of "bi-partisian cooperation".
By the way, what happened to your Bob Barr logo?
It's been replaced by a Bluegrass logo!
In my travels I was once invited to dinner and to listen to bluegrass music in a small town in central Virginia.
It was interesting but not my favorite.
However, the band was a very enthusiastic bunch and the music was a lot sweeter to my ears than a lot of the garbage I hear in other places I have to work.
She is learning to tolerate it and she actually likes the latest Gibson Brothers CD, "Iron and
Diamonds". :)
I've been spending way too much time on politics so far this year and now that my rotator cuff is healed and my shoulder is getting stronger I need to get back to emphasizing learning how to play guitar and cut back on my time spent on politics.
