HP: Why would this not be seen in a sense as the place of every true believer of God? “ ye are the light of the world.”

I believe that is also the case - but those who have the gift of prophecy simply have a distinct role in doing that very thing.

We all as born-again Christians are the light of the World - we point others to Christ.

    in Christ,

    Bob

What happens when we run out of matches? :D

I guess we'll have to borrow someone else's light

If we are the light of the world, but we are not “The Light of the world” are we a lesser light?

If we have any "light" so to speak, the source of it would be from God.
This reminds me of a song we sang with the kids, "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. All around the neighborhood..."

    Matthew 24:26 (KJV1611 Edition):
Wherefore, if they shall say vnto you,
Behold, he is in the desert, goe not foorth:
Behold, he is in the secret chambers, beleeue it not.

I'll go with the false churches that the
    Bible talks about:

    1. Mormons:
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Morman)
whose False-prophet, Joseph Smith Jr., translated
the Book of Mormon (an angel) in
    secret chamber.

    2. Baha'i
Out in the desert of Persia (now Iran)
came one like unto John The Baptist,
the Bab (the door), martyred in 1850,
    and one like unto Chirst,
    the Baha'u'llah (glory of God)[1817-1892].
    His religion: Baha'i.

Strangely, the world headquarter of the Baha'i
is on Mount Carmel (the same mountian where
Elijah had his showdown with the Priests of Baal).
I believe prophetically that Mount Carmel
is the Har-Meggeto - the Mountian (Har) at the
head (northwest) of the Valley of Megiddo,
where the armies of evil (the world) shall
gather prior to their defeat by My Lord & Savior:
    Messiah Yeshua ben-Yoseph of Nazereth.
The Baha'i have an oversight of the final battle,
    Armeggedon (/H/armeggedon - mount
    of Migiddo). Neat, eh?

Want to talk about an army of
    200 Million Gay Chineese Horsemen?

The prophecy business ain't what it
used to be -- Getting where I get stoned
    every-other week-end :) hic ... :)

(I also get 'lit' everytime I get 'stoned' :) )

Does anyone remember someone named Claudia who posted in this forum frequently?

Before joining the BB, I read her posts for a little while. Just curious where she went...

Lesser lights compared to the ultimate light (God)?

Imho, we are made in his image but that seems a far stretch....

But you let it shine :) anyway

How about Jonah? Was he a false prophet?

Can you think of a prophet sent by God that told something that was untrue other than Jonah? I certainly can. Does anyone recall the lying prophet?

Let me go way out their on a limb and ask the following question. Is it within the realm of possibilities that one could prophesy something given to them by God that would not or did not come to pass for reasons possibly unknown to us?

Don’t get too worked up here Joe. I am just asking is it possible? Has it not been so done in the past as recorded in Scripture?

What do you think I Am Blessed 17?

What did Jonah tell that was untrue? I recall him being disobedient to Gods commands a few times, but that's it. Jonah asked for forgiveness so got threw back out of the Whale, then he wouldn't listen to God again so he sat in the hot sun because God's plant wilted.

I guess he received too much of God's light :)

Are you attempting to compare Jonas to EW?

Edited later- Worked up about what HP?
    Are you going to misbehave?
    Be good will ya

You believe God gives different groups of Christians different meanings of scripture?

Then you are saying we all here have the gift of prophecy, but obviously we all don't agree on doctrine, so how can we all have an inspiried word from God concerning scriptural doctrines yet have many differing "prophecies" ? Is God divided in His thoughts?

Brother Ed your difinition of the "gift of prophecy" does not agree with BobRyan's definition yet you seem to defend Bob's views on this subject in many ways.

If you two do not agree on what the "gift of prophecy" is how can you agree at all on who has this gift?

So if i say ......... "Jesus is the divine Son of the Living God" ..........I just prophesied since what I said was in harmony with scripture?

As I asked before and I am not sure I was given a clear answer, If all she said was in harmony with already stated doctrines of scripture then what does the SDA church need her writings for anything more than any other commentary we can read?

    God Bless!

    Jonah 4
1But it greatly displeased Jonah and he became angry.
2He prayed to the LORD and said, "Please LORD, was not this what I said while I was still in my own country? Therefore in order to forestall this I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity.[/b]
3"Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for death is better to me than life."

This is a good point. It illustrates the message given to Jeremiah (Jer 18) that prophecy is conditional when it comes to blessings or curses.

    Jer 18

6"Can I not, O house of Israel, deal with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.
    7"At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it;
8 IF that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it.
    9"Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it;
10 IF it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it.

In Zechariah 9 the first coming of Christ is described in glory and power dominating the world -
    Zech 9
8 But I will camp around My house because of an army, Because of him who passes by and returns; And no oppressor will pass over them anymore, For now I have seen with My eyes.
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of
Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem; And the bow of war will be cut off. And He will speak peace to the nations; And His dominion will be from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.

But In Matt 23 Christ proclaims the ultimate curse "your house is left to you desolate"

    In Christ,

    Bob
