You misapply that passage. It was not intended to adress every bad thing in the world. I suggest you go back and read the context. It may be helpful for you to visit your pastor about that verse. This may allow you to set aside your presupposition.

There is no mercy given to sinners without repentance before God and a willingness to have the blood of Christ applied to our sin.

I bolded part of your statement above, as it seems to be the crux of the matter. What do we do with that? I don't believe we've ironed out a clear answer yet.

Defense is not revenge. Pretty clear to me.

The point, Rolf, is that there are some, be it on this forum or elsewhere, who advocate no violence from a Christian ever. It does not matter to them if it is a matter of defense or aggression. No Christian should ever use violence for any means.

That's what we've been debating (at least, that's what I thought we were debating).

Are you suggesting Christians should SUBMIT to being victimized ?

Whether or not somebody goes to heaven when they're dead has zero to do with now they're supposed to be treated before that happens.

I'm sure you think so. But someone who would let damage be done to them and their family thinking it's going to make Jesus happy is a fool. And that would include you.

Really? intesting, why don't you go ahead and make your strong theological case for that. Please show us a historic case from scripture and also provide supporting claims made by others who support your view.

Two for two! You're on a roll. I willing to bet you got three in you.

FTR, I haven't said what I would do in these types of situations. Simply stating that there are Christians who have chosen not to respond with violence when confronted with violence. It's called a discussion, would it help if I drew pictures?

    Luke 6:27-36 (NIV)
[27] “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, [28] bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. [29] If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. [30] Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. [31] Do to others as you would have them do to you. [32] “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. [33] And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. [34] And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. [35] But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. [36] Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

You certainly have a lot in you.

Yeah, I noticed. You have only made fun of those who have.

I asked a question, and none of you will answer. Draw a picture of that.

I stand by what I said. Anyone who would allow themselves or their family to be victimized, without any thought of fighting back, because they think it's what God wants is a fool. Stupid. Nobody has been able to show otherwise.

Yup. The most twisted scripture in the N.T.

If your daughter is being raped, you gonna offer the other one ? Your wife is getting harassed by some thug, you gonna tell her to be "good" to him ?

...over the years, how many Empires did the Lord utterly destroy through war? Love your enemies? Of course you can love your enemies while at the same time planting one right between the eyes.

When seconds count the cops are only minutes away and if you're in doubt, empty a magazine. The only thing to worry about other than some thug breaking down your door is a liberal, bleeding heart DA seeking re-election.

Bro. Curtis - I am not suggesting that. In fact, I believe we do have a right to defend ourselves. I was pointing out that some people say we shouldn't.
