IF a person was baptised in any other method than immersion...
Assuming they are really saved...
If applying to become members in a Baptist Church, is it Must or Should be believer re baptised in order to become members in good standing?
Scriptures to back up please!

Not re-baptized, but baptized. Baptist theology does not recognize non-immersion baptisms as valid. If you were not immersed, you were not baptized.
-
Also, I had some pentecostal types, Assembly of God sorta come to our church. They wanted me to see them and told me they wanted to be Scripturally Baptized for trusting Christ alone in salvation, in rejecting the theology of works and loss of salvation taught them.
These 2 are pillars in the church. They saw it as Scriptural, not as being "re-baptized." -

I have been called up by some of the uglier, hateful brand of IFB preachers stating they heard i "accept alien immersion, and use canned music!" LOL!!!
I've never immersed an alien, some weirdos, but no aliens. Wait? Aren't we all aliens and sojourners?!!!! I have then immersed aliens!!!
I used to get called often by the KJVO, anti-canned music, hate-mongering preachers. But they oft wanted me to speak at fellowships, and actually enjoyed my rebuttal of their KJV onlyisms. You can get away with a lot if you say it with grace and a smile.
"Alien Immersion!!!" LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!! We're all aliens!   -

I had one friend whom they left in the baptistry waters for over an hour (not in midst of immersion) and said he could not come out until he gave evidence of being Baptized in the Spirit (spoke in tongues.)
So they sang and sang until he did. He said he faked it so he could get out.
He said he felt really bad for faking it, but wanted out of the water. -
Several excellent questions, Jesusfan.
1) the Greek word means to immerse, not sprinkle, and why would John baptize Jesus in the river Jordan, if the idea was to sprinkle? So the biblical idea of being "baptized" by immersion in water by men as commanded by Christ seems solidly supported by :Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:1-5
2) The prerequisite for being water baptized seemed to be belief in Jesus as demonstrated by exhibiting the effects of the Holy Spirit. So, today, we ask for testimony of our proclamation of faith, and of our changed life as evidence of the effects of the Holy Spirit, Acts 10:47.
3) The churches I have belonged to required either to be baptized, which I was at age 15 as a professing believer, or by letter stating I had been water baptized, which is how I became a member of my current church. When I was baptized, I was given a baptismal certificate, which I still proudly have in my treasured documents. -
As long a a person has been scripitually baptized (immersion) he does not need to be baptized again. In fact, I would not do it a second time for someone. -
They teach and believe in baptism SAME way as we baptists do...
Full Immersion, to be done once you have believed in jesus Christ...
The oneness CULT teaches /practices baptism in name of Jesus only, you MUST have it that way, as that is when your sins sre remitted and salvation completed. Also, MUST speak in tongues to show saved...
So they say jesus+Baptism+Tongues =saved -

The "official" AG position is same as official baptist, full immersion in names of Father, Son, Spirit, and to be applied once someone has made a profession of faith in Jesus! -
Remember, when this was first brought up, it included also "pentecostal types" so my explanation wasn't limited to AG when speaking of baptism, but of these others also.
My friend wasn't in an AG, he was in some type of Holiness church.
AG are generally right on baptism. -
Scriptural baptism requires four things:
1. The proper subject-----a professing believer
2. The proper mode-------immersion
3. The proper design------to picture the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and signify our own death to sin and rising to new life in Christ.
4. The proper administrator.
It is the fourth requirement where we have disagreement. The proper administrator is one authorized to baptize by a New Testament Church. Baptists believe we are true New Testament churches and will accept the baptism of any church of like faith and order. This may exclude some Baptist congregations. Our church will not accept the baptism of Free-Will Baptists or General Baptists, among others because of their beliefs and practice.
Those who teach error are not churches of like faith and order and thus do not qualify as New Testament churches.
Churches who attach sacramental value to baptism and the Lord's Supper cannot qualify as a New Testament church.
Churches whose mode of baptism is other than immersion cannot qualify as New Testament churches.
Churches who baptize other than professing believers (such as infants) cannot qualify as New Testament Churches.
To those who argue that the Administrator of baptism is not important, I would point out that Jesus walked many miles to submit to baptism by the proper administrator---John the Baptist.
Further, Jesus selected twelve disciples, all of whom had been baptized by John the Baptist.
And one of the qualifications for the disciple who replaced Judas--Matthias--was that he had to have been baptized by John. -
Yes, those being water baptized should understand that the water baptism just gets you wet, but the spiritual baptism of the believer being placed, immersed in Christ, is the baptism into the death and resurrection of Christ, Romans 6:1-5
And Tom is right again when he says we disagree about not accepting the baptism letter of a professing Christian, based on rejecting non-Calvinist doctrine. If a candidate is a professing Christian with a changed life, but does not grasp doctrine as a fellowship does, he should be tutored, and accepted like Apollos.
