...and give it to someone that lives in a house twice the size of mine, punishing me for my responsible decision to buy a house I could afford, and reward my neighbor for irresponsibly buying a house he could not and still can't afford?
Well, that's exactly what's happening to me and probably to many of you.
First, they are not taking your money. They are taking your kids and grandkids money!
Secondly, they are not giving it to your neighbor. They are giving it to his mortgage bank to redo his or her mortgage at better terms.
Thirdly, it might be your neighbor who bought a house half as big as yours, who didn't overextend themself, but lost a job in this horrific economy and due to deflating house values and no income can't pay for it anymore and cannot sell it.
I don't think you answered my question.
But here goes anyway.
1.
According to my Microsoft Money (c) program, a third of my income goes to the government.
So they ARE taking my money.
And my kids money.
2.
The money goes to my neighbor in the form of lower interest or other benefit.
And just who is funding and insuring the higher risk he now represents?
Who pays for his next default?
3.
There's no such thing as a house half the size of mine.
I've got about 900 square feet.
It would be hotel room.
4.
If he can't make the payments, he's got to move out.
Tears or no tears, he can't live there.
He's got to make other living arrangements.
He has options.
He can live with me if he's an honest guy.
And all this is a sign that he needs to make changes because whatever he's doing now ain't working.
And no one said it's easy.
There have been taxes as long as there have been governments. Do you advocate the government not having the right to tax? If that happens, there will be NO government, hence anarchy. Even Jesus said to render unto Caesar.
No. It has to be endorsed by a majority of both houses and signed by the President. Very constitutional. If Congress wants to pass a higher tax on guys named Mitchell who live in Florida, they can do it, unless the SCOTUS finds a flaw.
That's not what I said.
By the way, you agree with me, so why are you arguing.
You said yourself the our kids and their kids will be paying for this.
Seems to me you're admiting that government is taking too big a chunk of our lives.
JD, I believe the flaw in your reasoning is as follows:
1. You believe that the money you earn is yours.
2. However, the dems/liberals/leftists/socialists do not consider the money you earn to be yours.
It belongs to the government. They graciously allow you to keep a small part of it.
So be thankful for small blessings from the gods of socialism.
The blessings may get smaller.
So MP, if congress legally passed and the POTUS signed a "constitutional" law that 95% of our income went to the goverment, you would have no problem with it?
The adoption of the 16th amendment giving the federal Government the authority to tax income was the initial dagger in the heart of the Republic.
The New Deal and subsequent federal power grab, under FDR was the second dagger.
The Supreme Court decision removing prayer from the classroom, a gift to the secular leftists, was the third dagger.
The Great Society, and additional power grab, under Johnson was the fourth dagger.
The Supreme Court decision making the murder of unborn children legal, a supreme gift to the secular leftists, was the fifth dagger.
The election of Socialist Obama and the subsequent move to socialism following his election is the sixth
dagger.
The continued failure of the all Federal Government officials to abide by their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution with the illegal deletion of the 10th amendment from the Constitution is the seventh and final dagger.
I just can't get over this.
You really don't know what "rule of law" means, do you?
How about "republic"?
What you're advocating here is the rule of men over other men.
You guys really have trouble seeing a point, don't you. Where did I say I would agree with anything like that. It would be consitutional...THAT is the point. Not that I would agree with it. I would be sure to vote against the bozos in the next election. But they can do it and it sure ain't unconstitutional.
