The exactness of the message is found in the definition of each word in context, still, isn't it?:tonofbricks:
Charity: Divine benevolence toward those undeserving of its grace and mercy, having no merit within themselves.
Love: an affection; physical, emotional, or spiritual.
Take your pick.
I'm glad the Lord doesn't just love me, but He has charity towards me too!!!!!:jesus: -
this editor is no good, hense the double post :(
-
Remind us of the prooftext saying that God has charity
towards those in Christ.
the only KJV1769 verse with 'God' and 'charity' is here:
2 Thessalonians 1:3 (KJV1611 Edition):
Wee are bound to thanke God alwayes for you, brethren,
as it is meete, because that your faith groweth exceedingly,
and the charitie of euery one of you al towards each other aboundeth:
However, God had different ways of saying the same message to us.
BTW, rewrite strongs to go with your definitions:
G26
ἀγάπη
agapē
ag-ah'-pay
From G25; love, that is, affection or benevolence;
specifically (plural) a love feast: - (feast of)
charity ([-ably]), dear, love.
-
Don't need to, Strong's is very accurate and a blessing to add understanding to context.
Charity is always love, but love isn't always charity. -
'Charity' has connotations of welfare-ism in the 21st
Century ;(2001-2100) which it didn't have in
the 18th Century (1701-1800), the last time the KJV
had an widely accepted upgrade.
