That is an opinion to which you are entitled.
But you cannot deny that even President Bush pointed out that John Kerry's service to the country was admirable.
He was being a statesman.
I don't know if he truly believes that or not.
Either way, he is entitled to his opinion.
I don't agree with him on everything, and certainly don't here.
So, basically, you are saying that President Bush was lying.
What about the fact that Senator McCain spoke out against the SwiftVets?
He also said that John Kerry served his country admirably.
Was he also "being a statesman?"
One more time, John Kerry actually served in Vietnam.</font>
BiR,
So did the soldiers in Iraq who have been charged with or accussed of abuse of their POW's. Do you think that they have served honorably? Should they get an honorable discharge? One could say that Kerry is no different than them. Kerry caused more abuse on his fellow soldiers in Vietnam.
1.
Nobody said McCain doesn't have a right to say whatever he wants.
But that doesn't mean that we have to agree with him.
2.
I was born in 1972, so didn't avoid going, just wasn't old enough.
3.
Bush didn't attack Kerry on this issue, the Vietnam Vets and POWS did.
Do you think they should also stay silent?
I think the Swift Vets also earned their right to express their disgust at Kerry's dishonorable service and betrayal of America.
I am glad we agree on that.
He caused more abuse?
Nobody has come forward with any proof that the POW's endured more abuse or torture as a direct result of anything that was said by John Kerry.
I just finished Sean Hannity's book
and I am going to get the book by the SwiftVet organizer (the guy who has been after John Kerry for several years now).
Let's see what he says about this topic...
I find it amazing that you equate what John Kerry said to what the soldiers did in Iraq to the prisoners.
Are you establishing that "saying it is the same as doing it?"
BTW, Joseph: Galatian's third comment wasn't directed at you........

I find that amazing.
That would be directly related to the proof that John Kerry's comments "caused" the POW's to endure more abuse.
I have heard several people make this claim, and I am going today to buy the aforementioned book.
Let's see what he offers as proof.

Actually, we have John Kerry who admitted to committing war crimes far worse than anything that happened at Abu Graib.
BTW, Joseph: Galatian's third comment wasn't directed at you........
Who was it directed to?
Bush?
Even you admit that he did not criticize Kerry for his service.
The Swift Vets?
That couldn't be...they actually served in Vietnam.
Who do you think he was talking about?
Amazing.
Then the people who went to CBS with the story on the torture in Iraq were wrong to do so, despite the fact that it was also against the UCMJ. [/QB]
It is wrong to do so. Unless it has gone through proper military avenues, and the military releases it themselves. The reason being, it creates an even more hostility towards our troops. Now, who wants that?
JBot,
I know that we have the testimonies of the POW's who had to endure the torture. But I thought it would be pointless in reminding BiR of that since he seems to need more proof.
Who was it directed to?
Bush?</font>
Perhaps, but I think you would be better served by asking Galatian, not me.
I simply pointed out that it was obvious that it wasn't directed at you.
Again, you might be better served by asking Galatian.
I simply pointed out that it was obvious that it wasn't directed at you.
</font>
This is your post. Right?
My reply was that I did listen to and read their accusations in the same manner that I suggested that one should read the book. With an open mind and with common sense.
