That's the key with a lot of people, black and white. There is a race problem in this country. A lot of white people seem to have pressed the IGNORE button because they just don't understand "why they are running" or "why they don't just cooperate".

As I've said before, I'm around these communities all the time. I've gained an insight that many don't have or don't want.

And a lot of white people on this board and in the church in the United States exhibit the blindness of white privilege that desensitizes them from even listening to what Blacks are saying because privilege doesn't have to listen. Privilege doesn't have to care. As long as it's not disparately impacting my world, privilege puts it on ignore, the same way privilege in the Church put slavery and Jim Crow on IGNORE.

So yes, I have a HUGE problem with white folks in the Body of Christ acting like the white folks during the days of slavery and Jim Crow.

Amen, Amen, and Amen

Gosh Zaac, Jesus did that at the cross and continues to work in the lives of those who love him. Besides, neither you or I can go back and undo all the atrocities against humankind, much less the last 400 years. You propose an impossible task and you know that.

What Jesus Christ did for all has nothing to do with the unChristlike way some white people have treated Blacks in this country the last 400 years.

If you love Him, then keep His commands. Stop pretending to be blind to the plight of others just because you don't want to hear it.

And you're right. I propose an impossible task. And just as impossible is the task you seem to be demanding when you think that in consideration of how they have been treated the last 400 years by white people in this country that it shouldn't mean more to them that the same people are STILL marginalizing their lives.

A lot of white people are living in a fantasy world where they refuse to acknowledge, that considering how Blacks have been treated, they should not be up in arms over the killings of all these unarmed black men.

And to hear the comments of several of you about their complaints, you're tired of hearing that it's about race.

Well white privilege allows some to be able to decide to do that. Black people can't do that or they just might end up with 5 bullets in their back.

It's obvious from the tone of this thread and the seeming thousand others touching on this subject that neither side is listening. From both side there is nothing but name calling and accusations.

And THAT is what I have said from day one. The side on this board is by far majority white. You know it. I know it. And so does the majority of everyone else on this board.

And it is indicative of the very same problem Blacks encounter in the greater population when it comes to racism or racial prejudice.

A large majority of the white people won't listen because they are tired of black people yelling racism or racist, etc.

And I say again, it is the utmost of white privilege that has placed the majority in a place where they don't have to listen.

They weren't listening during slavery.Civil War.

They didn't listen during Jim Crow. Thousands upon thousands of Blacks were murdered, beaten, raped and lives destroyed.

They aren't listening now. Outcome yet to be decided.

But if history is a teacher, then WHITE CHRISTIANS...And I specify WHITE CHRISTIANS need to sit down, stop flapping their mouths and LISTEN.

Because WHITE CHRISTIANS are allowing the same sort of wickedness that prospered during slavery and Jim Crow to prosper again.

A good question would be can you ignore or allow such things and be a Christian? White or Black? Such allowance and ignoring of wrongdoing directly contradicts Ephesians 5:11: “Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them”. I once heard John MacArthur say: Our Christian responsibility goes beyond abstaining from the “deeds of darkness.” We are also called to expose them. To ignore evil is to encourage it, and to keep quiet about it is to help promote it. The verb translated as “expose” (from elegchō) can also carry the idea of reproof, correction, punishment, or discipline. We are to confront sin with intolerance. True devotion to God is to take up the cause for the oppressed and poor. (Isaiah 58)

AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!:applause:

This is one of the reasons I can't stand politics. Because I have seen the same "White men are under attack so let's be as nasty as our slavery and Jim Crow ancestors were and take "our" country back" mentality being pushed by Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and FOX News. And it has taken over the thinking of many in the church.

Who looks at a man getting shot in the back five times as he's running away and even fixes their mouth to say he's dead because he ran? We've got white men shooting up schools and movie theaters and blowing up marathon courses and blowing up federal buildings and running around the streets holding assault weapons, and the police do everything they can to not shoot them dead.

But a man runs and is shot in the back 5 times and suddenly we need to wait for all the facts?

Pure foolishness.

I for one am glad that black people are standing up and refusing, at long last , to allow themselves and their lives to be marginalized, undervalued and underestimated.

I have the answer. Everyone on this board who has owned a slave, or raped or murdered a black person in the last 400 years, go apologize. Now.

Or better yet...everyone on this board whose ancestor has owned a slave, or raped or murdered a black person in the last 400 years, go apologize. Now.

Exactly.

I'll start paying attention when blacks start taking some personal responsibility for their lack of family values and cohesiveness, and their atrocious crime rate.

When they begin to recognize and address their own problems, only then can they quit blaming whites for ALL their problems.

Only then will I listen. Until then, it's just whining. And it's mostly tuned out. Just as it should be.

How about thanking those of us who had ancestors fight and die for the north ?

You're kidding. Right?

That'll happen about the same time as they thank the over 300,000 American white men that died in WWII to rid the world of a racist Nazi regime.

Sapper this is the same foolishness that angry white men have been spouting in response to Blacks for the last 30 plus years. It's an excuse to not do anything.

But nobody gets a pass from history. You may not have owned a slave but I but you nor the majority of white people have a problem with the benefits you enjoy now that came from people owning slaves.

White people fail to recognize that the benefits of slavery and hundreds of years of preferential treatment when it comes to education, income, housing, elections, etc, has exacted a multiplied effect on their position economically and in just about every other manner that shapes communities.

So stop this foolishness of not owning slaves because we've certainly reaped the benefits of our ancestors owning slaves.

Goodness. Folks didn't own slaves in the 40s , 50s and 60s either. But that mentality certainly didn't stop them from marginalizing black lives in the same manner that slave owners did.

The folks of the Jim Crow era, which we aren't too far removed from, lynched and raped and murdered just as the slave owners did. We also used black labor to build this country then just as the slave owners did.

My point is it would be silly to thank me because I had nothing to do with it.

Again nothing but pure foolishness. ANd this is the type of foolish speak that so many white people think black people don't pick up on.

Here you've got a white man talking about Blacks taking responsibility for their pasts out one side of his neck while at the same time not wanting to take responsibility for the past of whites and slavery.

He wants Blacks to take responsibility for their lack of "family values". But makes no mention of how many black families had husband ripped out and murdered by whites. Or makes no mention of how many families had their sons and daughters sold away from their families. Or makes no mention of the mothers and daughters that white men raped and impregnated.

Or gives no mention to the the number of black fathers who were leading their families but said the wrong thing to a white man , woman or child and ended up hanging from a tree.

You see it's hard to have family values when the men who are supposed to lead your family have been lynched.

It's hard to have family values when the men who are supposed to lead your family are being targeted and jailed.

So how about white people start taking responsibility for some of that while you're running your mouth?

And yes, they are well aware that white people have tuned out just as they did during slavery and Jim Crow.

And as Egypt enslaved God's people, and as white men enslaved Blacks in this country, and as whites maligned, mistreated and marginalized the lives of Blacks in this country during Jim Crow and with James Crow, Esq today, a day of reckoning is coming. Perfect example of wicked Christian behavior and why the country REALLY is where it is.

Let's see if you're listening on that day.

In that the discussion of the "prolife myth" was derailed to an argument over sin...

Since sin is sin... and everyone one sins...

Why should anyone get exercised over the shooting of unarmed black people by white police?

After all if we are going to say that the murder of the unborn is no worse than any other sin, why can't the argument be made that the killing of an unarmed person by the police is no worse than abortion - which is legal and occurs 4,000 times a day in this country alone.

Sin is sin? All sin is sinful but not all sins are the same in either category or degree (Luke 10:13-14; Jude 6).

Zaac it's like what Tim Keller (pastor, theologian, Christian apologist, and author) said:
"White people" don't have a concept of "corporate responsibility" which prevents them from dealing with "corporate evil" or "systemic racism."

The Bible supports the practice of corporate responsibility, Keller further explained. In Joshua 7, corporate responsibility in family is illustrated when Akin and his family are punished for Akin's sin of taking the wealth for himself. Daniel 9 demonstrates corporate responsibility for an entire culture because it shows how the prophet Daniel repents for the sins of his ancestors and sins that he individually didn't commit.

Christians need to see systemic evil, take responsibility, and come alongside those who recognize systemic evil to articulate their concerns.

Christians who treat everyone the same shouldn't have to worry. I'll acknowledge slavery was awful and I will also express heartfelt sorrow for the victims of any crime or indecency perpertrated on them especially if it was racially motivated.

I won't take responsibility for slavery simply because I'm white. That's ridiculous.

"I won't take responsibility for slavery simply because I'm white. That's ridiculous."

I come from poor white trash. My ancestors on my dad's side were share croppers during the Civil War period. No slaves owned there. On my mom's side is native American and share cropping. Again, no slaves owned. In fact, share cropping could be equated with slavery. In, most white folk's ancestors never owned a slave.
