This is quite a good quiz and the overall results are somewhat shocking.

It surely indicates that the majority of Americans don't know what's going on.

It's astonishing that so many people got less than half right. The results say that 80% of the (voting) public doesn't have a clue, and that's pretty scary.

There are no tricks here -- just a simple test to see if you are current on your information.

Test your knowledge with the challenge of 13 questions, then be ready to shudder when you see how others did:

I should have gotten 11 of 13, and wouldn't you know; I would've gotten 12 of 13 had I not taken a second look at two of the three I missed and fell into the old adage - "Think long, think wrong!" So, my suggestion, go with your first choices. BTW - the ones I missed were near the end, which means the stress of getting the answers right got to me...

I got all 13 correct, but I guessed on several questions.

Some of the questions are obscure who would know the population changes in the Netherlands?

The clue to that one was that the graph showed almost no one lived to old age, so I chose the country with the worst health care and practices.

Yup. That and an out-of-control birth rate are clues to an uneducated, backward third-world society. The others don't fit that model.

#1's answer is outdated because NJ now allows same s@x marriages. :tear:

By the way, you gave away the answer.

I'm just as bad, I pretty much gave away the answer to the population chart myself.

I could use a good slap in the head, I am sure cobwebs and dead insects would fly out of my ears.

    8 out of 13.
I missed the Senator from Florida, the Middle Eastern country, (haha, I sat there and thought about it too, felt so dumb, almost clicked the right one and said nope at the last second!) the Dow Jones average, the population question, and the supreme court justice one.
But it made sense to me that the one country (trying not to give away the answer by naming it) would have more kids in that age group and less in the older one, given the assisted suicide laws and stuff, so I did put thought into it! I don't get that pattern of so little elderly in a lesser developed country, where the elderly (at least from a social aspect) appear to be stronger and healthier than the general elderly population in more developed countries. I guess that's if they live, huh? Something to ponder and look up, now that my curiosity has been peaked.

I can understand your confusion at that population chart, I was a little puzzled by that too at first.

I almost picked the wrong Dow Jones chart at first, but luckily I stopped and thought about it and made the right choice.

I truly guessed on the women in the Senate, and the Supreme Court, but I knew that 2 of those Supreme Court Justices were always liberal. That narrowed it down some.

I remember in High School they taught us that if you have to guess, make an educated guess. That was good advice.

Yep, an educated guess is best, although one of my daughter's teachers recommended she always guess "C" if unsure on multiple choice as it's the most common correct answer.

The only reason I got it right, my ship sailed through the Suez Canal, in early 1981. We were briefed, because of Egypt on one side, Saudi Arabia on the other, and something to do with Anwar Sadat, that it might get hairy. But we sailed right on through, no problem. But I never forgot where Egypt was.

That was the reasoning I used!

    I am in the top 15%. A couple I missed - all I had was a guess

I just tried Gina's method, took an online multiple choice IQ test. I didn't even read the questions, I just answered C for all of them and got 104 IQ! Not bad.
