To this day, I still don't know anyone above the age of 18 making minimum wage. I can't think of a soul, burger flippers included, who don't make at least eight bucks an hour. At one point I know the min wage earning public was a single digit percentage. Not sure what it is now.

Even McDonalds pays above minimum wage. The liberal minimum wage game is a fallacy. -

"In Washington State the minimum wage is $8.40 "
actually 8.55 per http://www.dol.gov/whd/minwage/america.htm#Washington not that .15 per hour is going to make any millionaires :) OR is 8.40 and there is WY at a tad over 5. -
Look...union folk want a high minimum wage most of the time, because their $$ is indexed to it. A raise in the MW, and union folks get more $$.
Kind of a vested interest...at least until they manage to kill off the rest of our industries... -
OK, $8.55.
>It would be interesting to see where kids work who live near the border of Washington State?
Both OR and ID have state income taxes. WA does not. OR has no sales tax.
A kid - anyone - who worked in WA and shopped in OR would have the best of both worlds. Done it, myself.
As I said, according to Baptist Board economic principles, the jobs which can profitably be sent off shore should be sent off shore. Don't blame the unions for actualizing Libertarian/Republican/Baptist economic theory. You should be thanking the unions. -

Unions do not even come close to doing that. I am former union and my father was an organizer. I know exactly what unions do. They have no concern for the health of the company. -

I never suggested that the unions should have a concern for the health of the company. I implied that by running up labor costs the unions would force the companies to go off shore and eliminating union jobs. Isn't this what you Baptists want? For companies to maximize profits? Companies have no obligation to provide American jobs, right? There will still be plenty of scab jobs left after production goes off shore, right? -
Funny that you think that companies have an obligation to hire union labor but you don't. -

>I am sure there are many Baptists who are union members.
But not many on this list? This list is not representative of the Baptist denomination? Just asking because I don't have even a guess. -
Wages weren't too good, though.
