A quick question. I can't believe that I am actually having to ask this question. How many of you would be in support of a sodomite speaking and giving counsel to your church on AIDS or any other issue? Just curious how liberal some on the BB are after I saw how far they will go to justify what their pope did at Saddleback.
Please answer my question in the following way
1. I would support it because_________
2. I would not support it because_________

I think it has been shown on that "other" thread what the definition of liberal is. Please refer to that. It has also been shown that there was no "counsel" to the "church" taking place. Please quit the smear campaign...

All speakers in every church are sinners. The sinners I would want apeaking are those who are against sin and I know that they are not in favor of practicing sin. That would disqualify some pastors who call themselves fundamentalists and say that they believe the Bible. Yet in private they are yielding to sin. A person who is quite perceptive can pick those things up.
In many cases a person who stands up to speak and beats the drum loud and hard is most always struggling or guilty of practicing what he preaches so hard against. A man who seeks to make disciples of every person does not have much time to beat the drum on small things but rather the essentials of eternity. Every man without Christ is headed the same place. Why waste people's time beating on things the church is already coinvinced of when they ought to proclaim loud and clear the message James taught about faith and works not just an empty faith written on a piece of paper. -
(20) If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
Deacon, your hate for Rick Warren is showing.
Do you love your brother? If so, you sure do have a strange way of showing it.

So far not one of you have answered my question straight on. Your answers sound more like the answers I would expect from a politician. Please try again and please read the OP and answer in a correct fashion. Yes I would because______ or No I wouldn't because________.

The reason I refuse to answer is because you are on a Crusade to destroy a Brother in Christ, and that is wrong..
Do you belong to Saddleback? If not, then it is none of your business.
Take care of the affairs of your church. That should keep you busy.
Saddleback can, and should make their own decisions.
I know what I would do, but it is not up to me. -

To humor you, no I would not have a practicing Homosexual in the pulpit for any reason.
But then I wouldn't have anyone that endorses any type of sin, even gossipping, in the pulpit. -
...that sodomy is an abomination.
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." - Leviticus 18:22
...not to company with fornicators.
"I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:" - 1 Corinthians 5:9
...that two who walk together must be agreed.
"Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" - Amos 3:3
...that evil communication corrupts good manners.
"Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners." - 1 Corinthians 15:33
...that we are to be a separated people.
"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. " - 2 Corinthians 6:17
...that we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers.
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" - 2 Corinthians 6:14
...and that while there is a call for a local church to minister to its community there is no call for taking on global efforts save for sending out missionaries to those regions in need of the light of the world.
A pastor placing himself on the global stage to work with the world in an effort to heal the consequences of sin rather than the root of the sin, is seemingly working to promote his popularity among the world. When the television idol, entertainment idols, gov't leaders and global leaders loves a spiritual leader, then it would seem like that spiritual leader is being loved of his own.
"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." - John 15:19 -
I thought this was going to be about homosexuals joining the church and not having to turn from their sin, or as someone else said, reaching out to homosexuals. I don't know whats in the 'other' thread, but the way this is worded I can not answer this, I have no idea what else is being included (guess if I go and read the 'other' thread I would know).
All have sinned.
Was this speaker talking about the bible? Or informing people about aids or something? -

A practicing homosexual has no place at the speakers podium of a church except to acknowledge their sin and repent.

Please answer my question in the following way
1. I would support it because__
It would depend on the person, ad their relationship to Christ, and the relevance of the subject to the congregation._______
2. I would not support it because_________If the person was unsaved by their own confession, I don't think they have anythng to offer.
My brother is homosexual, but does not practice. He is born again, and yes I would have him speak in church.
I don't like the random use of "sodomite"..It just doesn't apply to all homosexuals, in my opinion..Give me a church full of sinners and I will be in the heighth of glory reaching out to them wth love and concern. If that makes me liberal,,then move over Jesus, as I stand by You, when you were on earth.
Cheers,

Sodomites? I thought Yahweh destroyed them all with fire and brimstone, along with their city, and sister city Gamorrah (sp?).
Why is one sin greater than another? Would you have an obese person speak from the pulpit regarding the sin of gluttony? -
"Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin." - John 19:11
