I have seen a few bumper stickers that say "Somewhere in Texas a village is missing an idiot", Somewhere in Texas there's a village missing an idiot; or some variation.

Hmmm - Texas has no villages - so who really is the idiot

Now, if we were to substitute Illinois or Hawaii for Texas, I wonder what kind of response would be received?

Village of Salado is in Texas, zip code 76571

Rio Salado is in New Mexico.

There is also a Salado in Arizona.

May even be more in other states.

    By definition a village is:

I expect, by definition, there are quite a number of villages in Texas.

    You'd be called a racist.

I have a t-shirt with a picture of President Reagan and the caption, "Remember when America had a real president?"

We were in a restaurant one night and some hippie type came up to me and told me that the only reason I disagree with Emperor Obama is that I'm just mad a black guy is in the White House.

Of course, when I explained to him that I was an even harsher critic of Bush, based on his similar policies, the guy had no answer.

This was before I was born, but in my "village" -- a town, per se, of about 250 then-- was a man who was illiterate, had never learned manners, and what language he knew was hard to understand. He stayed with different farm families, who let him sleep in the barn and gave him the scraps from their food, which he ate among the hogs at the sloptrough. Sometimes when he showed up in "town"-- the post office, cotton gin, 2 general stores and one drugstore, and the 4 or 5 churches-- people would buy an egg just to give it to him and watch him eat it raw. "Village idiot" was one term used for him, although just his first name with Old in front of it identified him with either chuckles or grimaces.

So when these kind of comparisons are put on stickers or shirts, that reveals alot about the personality and the compassion that displays them.

I lived in Texas for 5 years and did not realize there were villages in the Lone Star State.

However, I doubt that Mr. Bush would be considered an idiot.

Liberals cannot deal on a level of intellectual honesty so that have to call those who disagree with them stupid. They do it to every prominent conservative.
