Sometimes advice is worth looking at one more time

Once in a while something comes along that’s worth a second look. It did a few weeks ago and it got a rousing reception in Greenwood as well as all over the United States. So, let’s look again.
With so much debate during a political year about everything from war to Social Security, maybe there could be no better time to look once more at some of that political philosophy dispensed by Abraham Lincoln. That’s particularly noteworthy since it is still relevant in the lives of every person in South Carolina.
Of course, some of the good advice Mr. Lincoln offered fell on deaf ears back then. The way things are these days, there’s no reason to think that won’t happen again. Nevertheless, when Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, who happens to be black, recalled that advice, it opened a lot of eyes ….. and ears.
