With our upcoming move, Mrs Salty has an old PC, that she wants to sell at a yard sale.

Of course she wants to make sure that the memory is wiped cleaned of passwords, and other vital info.

    Suggestions?

ps, the village wide yard sale will be held May 22, in Camillus, NY. Hope to see you there. I will have on my military hat

The easiest routes would be to use something like KillDisk or format the drive using GParted. Download either one, burn to a disk as an image, and boot from it. Boot and Nuke works great (it is a DoD standard eraser) but it takes hours to make all the write and delete passes.

Once you have wiped the disk you can either reinstall everything like it was new with the restore disks or leave it blank and let the buyer know.
