Tomorrow of course the Progressives will pick apart the speech focusing out of context on words and phrases declaring once again that the POTUS is a racist and white supremacist and probably worse.

But IMO something akin to the accusation that "he tried to fire Mueller" will hit the Fake News Machine to disrupt anything good and overshadowing the address.

    Who knows what?

I won't mind having to eat crow.

Joe's rebuttal was simply awful, both in style and in substance - maybe some trust-fund baby Democrat royalty to deliver the message wasn't the best idea after all. Tweet of the night:

Bravo to the Dem advance staffer who decided to put a Kennedy in front of a car wreck on national TV.

Joe looks more like Conan O'Brien than either of his parents.

There's already backlash from the left calling the Joe Kennedy selection "white privilege."

Meanwhile, it appears Trump crushed it even according to liberal pollsters.

JFK was probably the truest playboy of the western world ever to reach the top. Bill Clinton was a poor second in comparison.

I knew that and I forgave him in my heart - Trump as well.

Hey! It was thoughtful of the Kennedys to remember Mary Jo, by naming this one Joe after her as they did.

Clinton was not a playboy, he was a rapist. Neither behaviors are godly, but there's a big difference.

Trump did an excellent job with the SOTU address. Comported himself like a President. He really needed to get some of the good news about the economy out there so people can hear it without the filter of the MSM. It was hilarious to see Democrats sitting on their hands as he announced on good piece of economic news after another. They were not applauding much of anything. Unemployment among blacks is at an all time low finally got a handful of Democrats to applaud. Like maybe three.

The guests he introduced had heart-wrenching stories. I really felt for them. I know this is all staged but the stories didn't seem contrived and the people were genuinely touched to be there. When Trump is recounting the suffering that some of them went through I was thinking maybe they just spent years trying to forget this incident and now they have to relive it and it's being broadcast to tens of millions of people.

After the speech I was surfing around the news channels to get their take on it. NBC's Chuck Todd was overly critical (big surprise), Fox News was gushing with praise (big surprise) but when I turned on CNN I looked to my wife and said, "watch how long it takes them to mention the Russian investigation." Sure enough it was within one minute that they brought it up! What does the Russian investigation have to do with reviewing the SOTU address? Give it up, CNN!

    I didn't watch Joe Kennedy's rebuttal.

Compared to the modern bunch of Communists, JFK was wonderful. Due to his sexual misconduct while in office, I can't put him on a pedestal. There is compelling evidence that he and Bobby had Marilyn Monroe killed. The entire Kennedy political family is a moral train wreck.
He handled the Cuban missile crisis well, but history seems to have forgotten that his political missteps caused the crisis in the first place.

Reynolds, were you alive at the time?

The Cuban missile crisis had its roots of the arms race after WWII with growing animosity from the developing cold war with the collusion between the Soviet Union's (USSR) Nikita Khrushchev and Cuba's Communist in chief Fidel Castro against the USA.

The USSR was "winning" in the arms race with their 50-60 megaton thermo-nuclear bomb "Tsar Bomba" which would cause a ground zero detonation of 20-30 miles across.

Personally I wouldn't lay the blame on JFK missteps. Just my opinion.

President Kennedy was protecting our interests. I was in the USAF at the time - we were put on combat alert in preparation to invade Cuba and perhaps nuke the Soviet Union. it was a scary time.
