Pioneering stem cell treatment by British scientists has restored the sight of those threatened with permanent blindness.

The technique has transformed the lives of patients who have lost their vision through injury or disease.

The procedure has so far been carried out only on those who have lost their sight in one eye.

I am not sure that websites are what most mean when they say "mainstream media".

Have you seen anything on TV or heard anything on the radio news?

I must admit that I have not.

Try watching or listening to something other than FOX. and Rush  ... just a small joke. If you read the references you will see that Fox is one site included in the list as is Time and The Guardian. I did not check the multiple other pages listed from the search.

He did not say mainstream media ... just the media ... so he is mistaken.

I don't recall reading about the story in the Daytona Beach New Journal, which is a very liberal paper, or the Jacksonville paper. So it is news to me.

And if you do, they will simply mention stem cells, as the article in the O.P. and as in all but one article in CTB's post. They know that most people who hear "stem cells" think "embryonic stem cells."

We are really standing on the edge of some amazing medical breakthroughs because of stem cell research. I still say utilizing embryonic cells is justazy science. Adult stem cells are just as viable.

There is a large discussion to be had about the existing lines of embryoes from in vitro procedures...but this isn't the time or space :)

Actually, from my understanding, adult stem cells are MORE viable than embryonic stem cells.

More than that, embryonic stem cells haven't yielded any positive results. Breakthroughs with adult stem cells will be exploited to support embyonic stem cell "research," which is merely human slaughter and experimentation.
