Since the tv show "Survivor" came on tv, it's been in a climate which is mild. Therefore not requiring dressing for more intense weather, and shelter which does not require anything substantial or much effort to erect.
I would like to know what you think about having Survivor in some remote part of the Nortwest Territories of Canada.
I think that would really test anyones survival skills.

Snag Branch, Yukon in January. (Do a Google on it.)
What would the competitions be? -
I always thought it would be a good idea to be in a different type of environment, but then you would lose one of the major draws of the show - cut young girls half-dressed.
Anyway a dofferent type of climate would create a new set of challenges. -
If it was in too brutal of a climate in the North, I think that would be too dangerous for them to do.
-
Yeah tenor, you're right, but every time one of those scenes came on my wife would cover my eyes.
-
I agree with Rachel and also one must think about the camera crews and all the other people involved in the making of this show.
I think the cold climates would be more dangerous. -
Rachel,
I think you have a point. They could have it at Crane Lake, MN. Crane Lake is on the MN./Canada border. The weather there is not too bad-in the summer. The bears and wolves make it exciting. The mosquitos are the size of chihuchas.
-
I think another good place would be is the swamps in FL. :D
-
They couldn't show enough "skin" if they held it in a colder climate.

I've heard the Everglades are real interesting, in many ways.

too dangerous in norther canada? haha. people do live up there ya know. its not deserted. lol. if its not dangerous for the locals. it wouldnt be dangerous for anybody else who is brave enough to stand the cold of northern canada. if not canada. why not northern russia? haha. now that would be different. or even greenland? i havnt watched the show for quite awhile... have they had any in the desert? such as the Sahara Desert or some desert like that?
-
They did do one in the Australian Outback, I guess that's pretty close to a desert.

What's Survivor?
-
I'm from South Louisiana...and my vote is for "Survivor: Atchafalaya" and film it in the Atchafalaya Basin (swamp marsh between Baton Rouge and Lafayette).
-
Survivor: Gaza Strip!
Ok. That was bad. I am sorry.

It's no fun being cold.

"Survivor" has more to do with political & social survival than physical prowess.
I do think that watching really fit people in scanty clothing is a lot of the show's appeal.
Any of you all see "A Fast Runner"? That had a naked guy running through the ice and snow...maybe they could do something based on that.
