In my local paper there is a feature article, in very positive light, called "I Can See Your Future", in which it is stated that citizens may come to the local public library at certain times to get a free Tarot Card reading.
Is it right for me to be concerned about this misuse of public facilities, built at great expense, for such purposes? Or is my irrational fundamentalism just getting the best of me?

Oh my goodness! I'd be all over it like a duck on the proverbial junebug.

Inform the paper that you'll expect equally positive coverage of your free prayer meeting.

I'd be extremely disturbed if it were my local library.

I agree. If the public library lets the occult have "free speech rights" at taxpayers expense, then I'd counteract it with something Christian, like maybe a Bible story hour or something. -

Happens, I don't know why we should expect non-Christians to act Christianly.
Instead of protesting or making a huge scene about why don't you offer a free prayer booth outside as people are walking in? Or set up a display at a major community event helping those who need medical, financial, or other major needs? How about taking the money and energies normally devoted to fighting such things and going into the impoverished areas of your community and do acts of grace and become the Gospel for those who need to hear it the most?
Redeeming the culture means more than getting irritated everytime a lost person acts, well, lost...it means that while we hold the light of truth so those outside of Christ can see it we also act like salt and preserve those around us through our active involvement in their lives...not legislation.
just some thoughts :)
