It will be interesting to see how many of the 62 million people who voted for someone other than Barack Obama show up for one of these.

Noon at the Oklahoma Capitol building. All the speakers are non-politicians. This time we want the politicians to listen to us for a change.

story on www.distributedrepublic.net that these affairs are being instigated by a Republican Party outfit.

From my understanding, this is a libertarian (Ron Paul supporters) event that was taken over by Republican's. Some of the libertarian folks are not happy with some of the GOP speakers but it sounds like it will be a good event.

Here is the problem I see, the bulk of the people protesting Obama tax hikes just got a tax cut. This makes people not who are not part of this movement not understand the purpose. It's kind of like protesting the fare of a free bus. The only logic I've seen anyone make is they predict their taxes will go up sometime down the road because of the spending.

So again, this is like protesting the free bus because you think they will have to charge a fare someday to pay for all the free rides.

Now the real kicker is how much assistance is being given by Fox who claims to be the only non-biased news source. It must be a coincidence that some of the speakers work for Fox and no other network.

Your understanding is wrong, you have no idea what your talking about.Maybe you should find a credible source rather than media matters.

We are protesting an out of control Government, reminding them they work for us, not the other way around. Democrats are welcome.

First off this it totally non partisan. No elected politicians will be allowed to speak at any of the events I read about.

Although I may have received a tax cut, I can still protest run away spending and tax increases on those who fund our economy.

Although I may have benefited personally (short term) I still recognize how bad this is for our nation.

Only the short sited, me first, selfish aspects of our society would support the destruction of our nation for their short term financial gain.

I believe you. Evidently, you have not read about these.

"Congressional Republicans have fully embraced the tea parties as a channel for opposing Obama. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) is speaking at a tea party in Bakersfield; Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) will be speaking at an Americans for Prosperity tea party in Madison. Over 35 other Republican lawmakers have been invited to speak at other tea party rallies. Republican governors who opposed the economic stimulus package -- such as Rick Perry of Texas and Mark Sanford of South Carolina -- plan to address tea party protests in their own states."

Yes you are right Ken, I just read where governors spoke at Tea Parties in SC and Texas.

That really steams me, the current Republican leadership did nothing to curtail spending. SC and Texas did both refuse stimulus money so I guess those gov. have some credibility with the tea parties but they are still partisan elected officials and should have stayed in the crowd.

A politician is never going to miss an opportunity for some PR....

LeBuick, feel free to make stuff up if you'd like.

People are protesting the size, spending, and scope of the federal government.

Was that too difficult for you to understand?

Good grief...I'm glad there weren't too many of you in 1776...we'd still be paying taxes to the Crown.
