Student pregnant before marriage = immediate expulson

Teacher pregnant before marriage = immediate termination

I would NOT want an unmarried teacher who got pregnant to have any ministry in the church for years, and certainly not with children/teens.

    Applaud the church.

What's hard about this? You have a teacher who is supposed to teaching young people how to be a Christian who lives in a manner contrary to what Christianity. Where the difficult for you?

I agree with you Dr. Bob.

Are you also including that the fathers of those babies be expelled also? That's the second time that you mentioned girls being expelled. I just wanted to make sure that I was clear.

Would the same punishment go for the father - assuming he was a student at the school - and suppose the mom refused to ID the dad?

    Pastor Larry,

    I said this earlier:
Obviously I don't have any difficulty with her firing.

I agree with the postings. It does not matter who you work for, each company has the right to set their policies, and as an employee, you abide by them. In this case, getting pregnant before marriage at such an institution is pretty bad. I have to wonder though, how did they know she got pregnant three weeks before she got married.

I am also in complete agreement with Bill Wald. How many church members would be disfellowshipped if we knew their history? Our two favorite sins to point fingers at are adultery and drunkedness. Remember the old novel with the letter A. I am sure we have plenty of good old Baptist judges that could stand a G on their foreheads for gossip and glutton.

I will agree 100% with that for what it is worth. All I have ever expected out of any system of discipline is fairness and equal treatment for the situation. To me, sin is sin, and it all needs to be dealt with, not just the man made list we have created.

Sounds like she's not ashamed or willing to be "put away privily." She has a sense of entitlement and doesn't want to suffer the consequences of her sin.

That's very common. "We're Christians, so you should forgive me and we'll live happily ever after." People don't understand that being forgiven doesn't negate your responsibility to people here on earth for what you did.

    >The beer issue is a different case. I personally think it's legalistic, but if I had signed such a statement

It is a different matter if it was in his contract. A deal's a deal. Did the woman's contract mention pregnancies?

That's what I wanted to know.

And I think the "immediate expulsion" or "immediate termination," case closed, response for students or teachers is sorely lacking in grace. I'm not saying they should have definitely kept her, especially since I have not seen the morality clause in her contract, but let's not be so quick to pronounce judgment.
