I added a comment--not that it will do any good. I find it interesting that the only people who have any freedom of speech rights are those who agree with the majority. The rest of us have no rights--except the right to remain silent.

I don't agree with the child being asked to remove the shirt. I don't find that the shirt is offensive in any way, and obviously I believe it conveys a message that needs to be heard.
Remember though that when a child is in school they don't have freedom of speech. I don't want all children to have freedom of speech in school. If children were allowed freedom of speech in school, can you imagine the vulgarity and immortality that would spoken? -
A school board with any sense at all would write a dress code that prohibits clothing with any words or messages of any kind.
Such a dress code would completely eliminate the need to decide what messages are acceptable or unacceptable. -

I just hope they had a plain shirt for the student to wear as they removed the t-shirt.
One vulgar shirt for a bare chest is not a good decision.........

Actually the word "vulgar" was in the AOL story writeup:
"The district asserts that the T-shirt violated the school's dress code, which forbids any clothing advertising "inappropriate subject matter" like tobacco, drug or alcohol use, sexual promiscuity, profanity or vulgarity. Amador says the school applies the dress code subjectively, and lawyers for the girl point out that the images on the pro-life shirt can be found in the school's own science textbooks."

Yes, it's terribly vulgar to remind us that we are created by God.
It's much better to leave that unsaid, so that killing the babies doesn't bother us so much.
I sincerely hope that the "vulgar" comment was simply careless wording on Jim's part... -

I agree with the school. This student's shirt was inappropriate. I'm surprised she was not sent home to change first thing that morning.

Elementary school is not the place for the pro-life/pro-choice debate, in my opinion.

You are correct. We shouldn't be teaching them that pro-choice is even on the table. We should be teaching all elementary school children that life is precious.
