Fertilizer bomb. Pressure cooker bomb. It was outdoors, on the Strip, so see if I could high-speed ram a vehicle into the crowd.

Shucks, in that dense a crowd, grab a knife in each hand and slash everyone I got close to.

That dense a crowd, start shucking acid balls. I may not get too many with the acid, but the fumes will get at least twice as many as the acid.

And that's just giving it less than 5 minutes thought.

So, because you can't eliminate or limit Risk 1, Risk 2 or Risk 3, let's not bother trying with Risk 4, which we can limit, because some people might get upset about their 'human rights' to have a gun being no longer placed over the rights of others to life itself.

    Your logic isn't logic, Matt. Everyone's a law-abiding citizen...until they're not. That's your logic.

So, because by your logic, anyone/everyone could commit an illegal act at any time, you want to take away their ability, as much as possible, to inflict harm. Your logic requires that we take away guns, knives, forks, pointy things, clubs, bats, balls, rocks, sticks, etc., etc.

What you've said, by your logic, is that people can only be trusted to behave poorly. They cannot be trusted to act responsibly. So take away the things--from everyone--that could be used to inflict harm, especially those things that could inflict large amounts of harm.

You don't see that you've been raised in a culture that has ingrained in you that you can trust the government to take care of and protect you. You can't relate to what Americans view as basic liberties and freedoms, because it's culturally foreign (alien) to you.

And because you don't see it as a freedom or liberty that would have to be given away, this argument could literally go on forever.

    With that, I'm done.

OK This ping-pong debate might even have been entertaining if not about so dreadful a subject as mass murder.

So murder is okay as long as it is only 52 dead and 700+ injured as it was at the 7 July 2005 London bombings?

Why do you keep telling this same untruth? Nobody in this thread has said any such thing.

I get what your saying and agree with the never ending aspect to a point. I guess we are coming from two different starting points: I suppose on human nature that I come from - ironically perhaps! - if not the Calvinist total depravity standpoint then the belief that humans are by nature since the Fall deeply flawed and selfish and our natural tendency is towards evil. Therefore, whilst obviously the Gospel is the answer to that, unless and until.that changes hearts and minds I regard it as the task of civil government to restrain such tendencies as best it can. I guess you believe more in the intrinsic goodness and hence freedom (to choose to do right) more.

Once again you missed the point. Disarming the people did not prevent the mass killings.

Washing has yet become corrupt enough for the armed citizenry do deem it necessary to "throw them off."

You're not sticking to the point.

    Murder is never ok.

Last time I checked, bombs were illegal in the UK. When are guns going to be in the US?

It is illegal in the US to use a gun to kill someone. It is also illegal to use it to assault someone. It is also illegal to use it to rob someone.

And if bombs are illegal why does your military have several 10s of thousands of them?

How do building demolition people bring down unwanted buildings?

How do mines break up the coal to be extracted?
