Well, we invited friends from out of town for thanksgiving weekend. We just heard from them tonight, so we started calling restaurants. We knew the pickin's would be slim . . .
I finally found a restaurant that said yes, they were serving Thanksgiving dinner.
"Are you open Thanksgiving Day?"
"yes"
"There will be four of us. We just found out that we have out of town company coming!"
"We can seat you at two tables of two - no where near each other. You've waited entirely too late to call!"
"ahhh, thank you for your help . . ."
This is a local Moravian restaurant that we frequently take out of town company too. I may have to rethink our patronage though. I know it's late, but we didn't know our friends were coming. A simple we can't help you for parties that size would have worked. We got Christmas reservations on much shorter notice in Charleston last year when plans changed.
We did find a restaurant. One we haven't tried before. Now it's an adventure. ;)

I just would not be able to do it. Eating out for Thanksgiving. I love the cooking, love home cooked food, and Robert loves turkey leftovers!

Well, we do enjoy the holiday and for years and years we had everyone and their puppy dog over. Last couple of years have been a bit different though.
Different times bring about new traditions. :applause: -
Bitsy-----what about "Take--eee Out-eee!!" ---- What de matter---you no like cooking in own kitchen??
DonnA--------I remember I had smoked a Turkey and Ham on my trusty Cajun smoker------and the leftover turkey and ham------gurl-----I cooked up a mess of greens and indoctrinated the leftover ham and turkey into the pot---------it made me want to slap my MIL!!!!!!  -
I have never eaten out for Thanksgiving, but we will be this year. On Thanksgiving morning we are leaving to go to The Wilderness Lodge in the Wisconsin Dells. They have several indoor waterparks in the hotel complex. We will get there early enough so that the kids can swim for a while, then we have dinner reservations at 1:00 then I guess its back to the water.
Since I work in retail I have to leave Friday morning to be back at work in the afternoon, but the kids and Jeanne are staying until Saturday. We are going with some friends so I am not abandoning them.

AND no cooking isn't really what we like to do OR what our friends like to do either - hence the eating out. We like to get together to visit! Eating is just an aside ;) -

Bitsy, ain't there a Loo-Fong's All-You-Can-Eat China Buffet in your parts? They don't close for nuttin'!! Might be some slim pickins on the pumpkin pie and sweet taters, however.
Go have yourself a Moo-Goo Thanksgiving. Speaking of Moo-Goo. We have Amish neighbors at deer camp. We've worked out an equitable exchange for their use of our fields and meadows. Remind me to tell Herr Yoder not to spread manure right in front of the cabin....
