There are really only 5 point calvinists, 4 pointers are confused ones, and less than 4 are arminian/non cal!

I am not so strict with that rule. If a person can't wrap his head around Limited atonement but still calls himself a Calvinist, I'm not going to object.

And in my opinion that is the ultimate folly. EVERYBODY believes in Limited Atonement. They just disagree how they limit it.

Most limit it to believers only.

Only a tiny percent are true universalists, thinking even the demons and the devil will be saved.

He has a profession of faith.
He believes he has truth in what he posts
I believe he has some defective ideas so I offer correction.
I would like for him to present his scriptural case.....in working through it one of us, sometimes both might discover a more God glorifying position.

Spiritual death is separation from God. Dead in trespasses and sins. The spirtually dead does not know God and cannot discern Godly things. But the spiritually dead person knows "good and evil" and can even believe in God(like the Pharisees did) or a god(like the Muslims do). The spiritually dead can hear. He can hear the Gospel, get mad, stop his ears, and "stone the preacher" like they did to Stephen. Or he can hear it, and tremble, and put it off, like Felix did. Or he can hear it, smite his breast and say "God be merciful to me a sinner" and be justified like the publican, he can say "Lord remember me"..be promised paradise .like the thief on the cross.

You my friend are an idealist. BTW, 1ST Baptist in Newton NJ finally got a permanent pastor (who is a Calvinist) ie God is good. The solid efforts of Pastor Al Martin still reverberate through the land...perhaps the HS has not abandoned us. We shall see! Pray hard my brother.

In order for there to be a "well-meant offer", which some moderate Calvinists believe is the case, there must be something behind that offer (they would argue). Being a 4-pointer does not make one a Universalist. There is a position of hypothetical universalism, which may be wrong, but I think that, "ultimate folly" is a bit over the top, Tom.

Terms like that need to be reserved for semi-Pelagians, wouldn't you say?

    I'll take another look.

Also, I think that this thread should be closed. It's so far derailed from the OP, it is irredeemable at this point.
