The Book of Genesis Illustrated
by R. Crumb
224 pages
Just what we need, another version of the bible... but this one's different, it's a comic book.
Front cover warning:
"ADULT SUPERVISION RECOMMENDED FOR MINORS"
As a kid I was never allowed to get comic books.
Of course that lead to a facination with them. When I'd go over to my friends house I'd read his comic books, Archie and Jughead, Spiderman, Superman etc.
What would have happened if I stumbled across this volume?
I would have eaten it up!!!

Reminds me of the kids' "Picture Bible" back in the 70's.
-
I can hear the pharisees hollering over this one.
-
Some of his "depictions" involve nudity, such as with Lot and his daughters (shows Lot and one of his daughters "getting busy"). I'm no Pharisee, but this is not something you would not find on the shelves of a Christian bookstore, nor would I want my child to have a copy.

Christmas is coming, this looks like something I'd like to add to my eclectic Genesis collection.

Is this the same Robert Crumb who wrote "Fritz, the Cat" and other pornographic comics in the 60's and 70's? I watched a documentary on him and his family years ago. Sick.
If so, I highly doubt the comic is actually for Christians or Jews. And I highly doubt it's sacred.
I won't be looking at it. -
I have an uneasy feeling that Crumb is really Jack Chick channeling William Blake.
-
I didn't realize it was "that" illustrated Bible. So, hear the pharisee holler as he eats his hat.
