"The Coffee Shop"
So in my town everyone goes to the coffee shop to hear the town scoop. A restaurant with the greasy spoon touch. All the farmers...lawyers...Dr.s...preachers...everyone stays a float of the day. Good or bad...everybody knows it by time the sun goes down.
People talk about everything. From farming to weather. The local News...to just sheer stupidity. But everyone shows up same time everyday. Except if it rains. When it rains...man they are packed.
They raised the coffee up to 85 cents, but the refills keep coming.
So I thought we could call the thread "The Coffee Shop", that way the thread would always be "The Coffee Shop". Even when it had to die out, we would just pick up where the other left off.
So Welcome to "The Coffee Shop". Someone will be by to take your order soon. ;)

As if I don't get enough caffine in real life, now I'm gonna have cyber-caffine to keep me awake. ;)

Well, in 8 minutes it will be morning. I don't know why I can't sleep lately. I have a sort of insomnia. A cup of coffee is exactly what I start every day with. A cup of coffee, a little direction for the day from God's word, a little recreational reading and I'm good to go.
This morning I went to get my first cup of coffee and my son Jordan saw me up and started discussing the ins and outs of some new computer game he discovered. I squinted my eyes at him, and said: "Jordan, I woke up 30 seconds ago, I need some time for my brain to be plugged in" He came over and gave me a hug and said: "oh sorry mom, good morning"
The whole time I was growing up, my mother would start the day by in depth full on conversations. I guess he gets it from her. But, me...coffee is like priming the engine. :D
this is how I should be at this hour... this is how I am. My brain might take a few minutes to start in the morning...but getting it to shut off is an effort.
Good morning all of you all ...in 1 minutes now P.S.T. HAPPY NEW DAY!

Usually, when the kids are off to school, then, and only then, do I begin the 'Daily Office' of Morning Prayer. (it's quiet then). As far as the Coffee shop is concerned, YES!, I used to live in a small town, and know exactly what you mean! The farmers get together and complain about the weather and the government, the women get together and talk about their kids and granchildren... And of course, on Sunday's, the congregation gets really 'cranky' with the 'Preacher', if he goes past 12, cause everyone wants to beat the Lutherans to the City Cafe! I MAY be moving to a small town soon...stay tuned. Til then, I'll check in to the coffee shop... -
So, this is the coffee shop, huh?? The Big ole Cajun boy from Louisiana--transplanted to Mississippi--hopein' to make it to Alabama--this boy was raised on coffee--it was in his bottle as an infant--then as a toddler--there was no such thing as a "sippy" cup--we just drank it straight and let it slosh all over!
Anyway, when folks find out I grew up in Louisiana--they automatically think I drink Community Coffee--but I tell them, "Shaaaa!! I like Folgers in my cup!!" I is "goo' frien'" with dat Juan Valdez whit his donkey up in dem dar Columbian mountain'! He brought de coffee bean to ole Blackbird in de Baton Rouge river port!
Jude!! So the Anglican folks get mad when the clock "jumps" past twelve?? Since this is the coffee shop--can anyone in here give Jude and de Blackbird some pointers on how to ignore those dumb remarks like "Gotta get out by 12!" I mean, ain't that being a legalist??
Your Southern Baptist preachin', not a good clock watchin' fool,

SHERRIE: I'll take a cup of decaf with two Equal tablets please...
We have a coffee shop just like that and when I used to go every morning, we solved the world's problems before everyone went to work!
WS: I am just like your son. I don't drink coffee at home and I drink decaf when I go out. I usually get up around 4:30 and by 4:45 I can be transcribing on the computer. :D -
Well Jude this is not Nebraska....but it sure is small here. 8000 people at the most in my town.
Oh Bill ;) ......just stay away from the sugar.
Morning Rod ! Wakie! Wakie!
Blackbird I am putting you and Jude and Sue at the gossip table!
