He preaches in a small Baptist church in NE Oklahoma (Leach, OK to be exact) affiliated with the SBC. He has been there over 20 years, but I think he is planning on retiring sometime in the next 2 years. The average attendance is around 120 on Sunday mornings, maybe a little higher now.

    Hi Sherri,

I'm going over and join Sue and blackbird and the others at the gossip table. I'd like to have a denver omelet and some GOOD black coffee. The stuff hubby makes here stands up in the cup and talks to you!

Jude, that is why I try to wake up a couple of hours before the kids. I need that alone time, or my whole mood is effected.

Sue, I guess you haven't read in the news that Equal demolecularizes with heat? It causes all kinds of weird medical problems when you subject it to heat. I hear that Splenda doesn't do this. I would look into it if I were you. You might want to consider a change. The medical side effects are sort of sci-fi.

Sherrie, Glad to know I'm not the only one. I saw an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond not too long ago...Raymonds Dad walked into his kitchen in the morning and said "Is that talking, there's not talking until after 9:00am" [IMG]

This morning Haven, my 8 year old daughter woke me up asking for a highlighter. She said she wanted to read the Bible to Lauren, her 4 year old sister. Isn't that cool? Usually I'm up around 6:00am, but I didn't get to sleep until 2:30am this morning. I don't know what's been bugging me exactly. Maybe I need to up my calcium.

I don't know if I would do well in a small town. Palmdale, California has a pop. of 180,000 . We're hoping to move to the Grants Pass area in Oregon by this time next year. Their population is around 78,000. We want a small town feel, without giving up too many big town conveniences. When we moved here 10 years ago, that's how this area was. It's almost doubled in it's population in that short amount of time.

It was 72 degrees here yesterday around 7:30pm, and today looks to be nice too. But the forcast says the temps. are going to drop down again and we'll be getting a few more days of rain towards this weekend.

I ain't believin' whats happenin'!! Right outside my kitchen door stands a themometer I had nailed to the side of the house--it reads at this moment 40 degrees F.! (Sorry, Ninety-Nine and JonMagee! I ain't in ta Celcius) and its 2:35pm CDT!! And the wind is whippin' and it feels to me when I go outside that there ain't nothin' between me and the North Pole but a single "bob-wire" fence!! And it ain't holdin' back much air!!

When the temps reach 99 degrees in the shade----I'll stop complainin'!!! Ole DHK and Ninety-nine are probably runnin' around up there outside without a shirt on and no shoes!! Barefooted!!

What am I gonna do about my tomato plants I have set out??? This is the second time I have set some out--I lost some to that first freeze that came through--when rsr was "poppin' off" about that silly snowflake he saw--and I'm just liable to loose this batch!!

I feel as if someone is responsible for Blackbird's little "miss-givin's" and I am bent to gettin' to the bottom of the ordeal if its the last thing I do!!

I'm not gonna be able to handle much more of this cold stuff--now, somethin's got to give! I don't know what--but somethin is got to give soon!!

    Sister Sherrie,
Yes, Sir-ree!! The corn is lookin' good! Up about 2 inches!! Good stand of it! Now, if the cold will stay above 32 degrees on the F. scale tonite I'll be in good shape--but those tomatoes???? Somebody hates me! I just know it! Somebody has a conspiracy against me--and has hoaxed me! rsr and that robe thing--you know your good ole Southern Baptist preachin' buddy ain't gonna get in no robe!!

rsr! I need some cancelled checks from you, my dear friend!! Something that proves ole Blackbird is "up" on his vows to Hinn, Tilton and company!! This is costin' ole Blackbird a bundle, did you know that??? How can I "settle up??" I had no idea that it would wind up like it has, but it has!!

I think I would like that Jim. I love living out in the open, and nature, and no one around me. Ok....I will take 20 acres please.
Except...if I need a store I do not have to go more than 50 miles.

Sometimes I have this urge to shop till you drop! :D

OK, Blackbird, get your hose and stand all night in the field spraying a fine mist on the tomatoes. At least it will give the folks in Wesson something to talk about.

"I'm worrying about that Baptist preacher. He stood out in the tomato patch all night with a hose, yelling about how he had sown the seed with faith and Bro. Benny had let him down and, besides that, there was a 140-year-old deacon making money hand over fist and it just wasn't fair and could you find those canceled checks?"

Sherrie, make sure Blackbird stays at the table with Jude; we'll get him into a robe yet.

    rsr!!

Just wanted you to know the "firepower" I have on my side when you come with that robe!! Here they are--not necessarily in any particular order--

Church member #1--active duty US Marine detached now somewhere in Iraq--supposedly coverin' the "flanks" of a big Marine detachment there--ummm! He's on my side!!

Church member #2--active duty US Army detached with an unknown division there in Iraq as a Military Policeman(see, even the Army must "police" itself!!) Ummmm, He's on my side!!

Church member #3--active duty US Army Infantry stationed in the "hot, hot" DMZ, 38th Parallel between North and South Korea--ummmm, he's on my side!!

You see, I've got all these Infantrymen on my side!! You better bring more than a popgun with you---just one rule! One Geneva Convention rule--that's all!! You cannot, must not, will not call Tilton and Hinn to "slay" my Infantrymen in the Spirit!!! Deal??

Meet me at the Dexter Coffee House--

Your Southern Baptist preachin', Armed Services sidin' buddy,
    Blackbird

PS--I'm gonna search this board over inch by inch--and I will find those responsible for doin' what it is they're doin' to my tomato patch--I sense some form of Voodoo---you guys are in big trouble!!

Ok, well, if you were going to wear a robe....now, if you were going to....work with me here....what color would it be? snicker!

I don't know what they call 'um! Really! We were not taught the proper name for 'um in seminary--or maybe it was that I just "missed" that lecture! My wife and I were at the LifeWay store up in Jackson not long ago--I was browsin' through the books there and did you know they DO sell those robes there??? Yes Sir Ree Bob! Right there as you go toward the back where the bathrooms are!! BUUUUUTTTT--you know me! If it doesn't say Remington 870 12 guage on the label . . .!

    Have a good day!

Your Southern Baptist preachin', robe refusin' buddy!
