Can some of you pray for me?
I've got a biopsy from a lump on my neck
in the lab to see if it is cancer.
I'd like it to be benign. Thank you.

Taking my coffee to work with me ...

Brother Ed, be assured that your name is registered in the kingdom. My prayers are with you. Do keep in touch so that we may pray intelligently as things progress.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Ok...after carefully deciding over the last couple of weeks...I have decided to date (?) (Is that the word?) again. Think this is too soon or ok?

Someone I know has asked me a couple of times to go to dinner...and I have put them off. But if they ask me again...I think I will. What do you all think? This is really a new thing for me. I am a little scared. I do not want to do anything stupid. It is making me nervous. But I do not like being alone. I think I would like some company.

Now there is also someone else I would be interested in...and so would they...but I do not see it going any where but trouble. But funny, this person has really caught my eye.

Please help me decide this. I am very nervous about my decision.

Sherrie, Ed and I went out for about a week before I realized we were really dating.

He took me by surprise by calling one Sunday morning to go to lunch that day and I surprised myself by saying, "I'll go" without thinking about it.

Just go and have fun. That was the advice my daughter gave me when I said I am not interested in getting married again. I went, I had fun, and yes, I married him. And now, I don't know why it took me so long to say "yes".

So just go and have fun. ;)

Now Ed's advice would be: It may lead to marriage. ;)

Actually, I learned later that he had checked me out with his mother who was my Sunday School Teacher. I passed the test, except she told him,
    "I talk a lot" [IMG]

    Ladies, Ladies, Ladies!!!

The dude who wants to "go out" with Sherrie--if he's anything like me--why, he is as nervous as a June Bug in a Chicken coop!!

But you watch!! Pretty soon its gonna be like this on the board:

    "Has anyone heard from Sherrie??"
"She hasn't posted in 'Lord only knows when'!"
"Sherrie! I need that meterologist report and I need it now!!"

From Sherrie:(when she finally appears again!!)"Sorry, guys! No time! Me and "So and So!" are going to the movies, etc.!"

Sister, go ahead! I would if I were you--and if I were that guy I would--I mean really!

Your Southern Baptist preachin', Marriage councilin' if you need it buddy,

    Blackbird, you are so right.

When Ed and I were dating, My granddaughters, yes granddaughters, would say. You're going out again. Isn't it a little late for you to be going out? Didn't you have a date last night?

And you're going to lunch with him today? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Sherrie, I think that would be great. Of course you know before the date he has to come to this thread and get our approval first. We'll be easy on him. [IMG] :D

Seriously, you asked if it was too soon. I wouldn't think so, but only you can really answer that question. From what you wrote above I think you are ready. One of my uncles remarried within six months of when his first wife passed away. Everyone told him it was too soon, but they have been married several years now and seem very happy together.

Don't put extra pressure on yourself. I agree with blackbird, you may be nervous, but he is probably just as nervous as you if not more so. Just go and have a good time. You will know after a few dates if it will just be friendship or if it has potential to lead to more. My wife and I were just friends for a few months before we started dating.

I hope you don't mind me giving you advice. I am usually asking for advice, not giving it. [IMG]

Thank you all for your advice. My goodness.

I have been a widow for 2years and 4 months. Its not like I am being a traitor to my late husband...but I tell you...it gets mighty boring around here. Everyone is going places and doing things and I have to gracefully bow out of a lot because most things are couple things.

Goodness, I am only 48. I feel at times my life is wasted. Who really wants to be with someone at 48, and already has children, and grandchildren.

Bro. Glen reminded me of a lot of things going on inside of myself. Yes, it is really nice to talk to your kids, and play with the Grandkids, but to actually have a conversation with someone besides my kids...hahahaha! I do not think I know how.

Sometimes, now, I am not asking for lectures...just talking to friends, I just hate myself. I feel like total punishment has been handed down to me. Ok, Ok, I know better...but sometimes you just can't fight those feelings.

I loved my late husband sooooo much. How could I possibly even begin to even take an interest in someone else.

ummmmm....I have rattled probably too much.

Oh Brother Ed, I just read your post. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I can only think that because you are such a godly example of what a Christian man should be, that the Lord wants to use this trial in some way. I just prayed for you brother. I hope you will be alright.

    In Christ,

Sherrie, Ed became a grandfather of seven when he married me and I now have two more children, one was a teenager at the time we married.

When Ed decided that he wanted to find a wife, the women's prayer group started to pray for him a wife. I was not a part of that group and had no idea that they were praying or that he was looking.

If you would like, we will start praying that God will send someone to you for companionship or
marriage.... Whatever it is that you want at this time.

I know how lonely it can get. I, too, thought life was passing me by.

Ok! Ok! I've got it all figured out! I've got a plan!

Here's what we do! Me and rsr and DHK are all master of disguises!! We will dress up in something unrecognizable and congregate at the Dexter coffee shop--which I believe it to be an old ESSO service station that has been converted(don't worry, Sherrie! We have one of those here in Wesson)--Sherrie and her date are free to come and go at any time--and we will have an opportunity to do two things--

    1. Check this dude out--if we find him comin' on too strong--we'll just butt in and "nip it in the bud!"

    2. We will see just how hard it will be for this dude to get Sherrie "down the church isle!" If we see its gonna be too hard--we'll just repeat #1 above!!

    3. While we're there--we'll put a hurtin' on the establishment's supply of coffee--what's it sellin' for there?? $1.09 is the best that Cracker Barrel has! Can the coffee shop beat that price?? I need to know these things so I can know how much money to bring with me--bein' as to how I plan on buyin' rsr and DHK's coffee!

One more thing--Sherrie! When your little waitress gives you the check?? Nod in my direction and tell the waitress that "the three gentlemen in the corner mindin' their own business will take care of this check!!"

Don't worry! I've seen this episode on Andy Griffith about a hundred times! Barney has never fowled it up yet!!

Your Southern Baptist preachin', master in disguisin' buddy,

Blackbird! [IMG] ...Thanks! But I haven't even gone out yet. I have turned him down twice. He has to ask again. Maybe he won't ask anymore...and all this nervousness was for nothing. Now thats my luck. I might be forward on this board....but these sorts of things...I am really shy at.

I'm up to it, Blackbird. Mapquest says it's only 11 hours from here. It's a fur piece for DHK, but Rod is much closer.

How about Faye's Pastry Shop? We can load up on caffeine and cream horns while we — ever so discreetly, to be sure — case the guy?

We can then compile the information and post a poll here so the Coffee Shop regulars can size up the candidate.

I'm working on a spreadsheet so we can calculate the scores ...

(Just kidding, Sherrie. I don't know how I would feel, not having been in your shoes. Just know the regulars are pulling for you, whatever you decide.)

Blackbird, should we bring along a video camera?

What to wear, what to wear?

    Thank you Sister Wisdom.

I've already had three things removed from my
skin that were checked out NOT cancerous.
    So likely this isn't either.
Even if it is a cancer,
it should be a skin cancer (which is easy
to get at and remove). So i'm in an
    interesting time, not a tribulation.
While i am concerned, i'm not worried.

Oh yes, Sister Wisdom, you are on my daily
prayer list still. Cause you is a Sister,
and we are supposed to pray for one another.
Anyway, if it were a big thing, i know where
the prayer requests Forum is on the BB.
But thank you again Sister Wisdom. [IMG]
