“In a wide-ranging conversation, Singer also notes that there has been a subtle but unmistakable change in the focus of public health since shelter-in-place orders were put in place. At first, he says, the idea was "flattening the curve," or slowing the rate of infection so medical providers were not overwhelmed by the number of cases. Now, he says, the discussion is about making sure no one gets infected, an unrealistic goal for a viral infection in the absence of a vaccine.”

The situation we find ourselves in and forced on us by government is pretty awful. Government policies pretty much guarantee herd immunity will take longer and the economy will take longer to be repaired and the debts will be massively added to for succeeding generations. The only smart country is Sweden. Other governments will not admit this as it would make their response to be as the one of fools.

The only smart country is Taiwan with 6 deaths out of 23 million people. They had N95 masks for everyone.

Trump has delayed the re-opening too long. He is listening to bad advice from the Democrats.

I agree that it should be by the Governors - and in some cases - he should delegate that to the county executives, ie NY, Calif, TX, ect

Yeah, for various reasons, the USA got caught with no supplies and so they spent trillions of dollars instead of a few bucks for an 95 mask. For a lack of 95 masks, they even spent $25,000,000 on the stupid Kennedy Center.

Indiana has a governor like Michigan--a prima donna. I think this emergency showed just how inept our career politicians are all throughout the country. The politicians say that they are just following medical science but medical science has moved on at lightening speed and the curve has been flattened and the hospitals are empty and the medical personnel laid off indefinitely. But the career politicians have scored their little cutting points against each other and they have saved their careers but the country is in a recession and the national debt is the tallest thing in the world. The Democrats are running a dummy for Governor in Indiana but he is no dumber than the one we have already if you look real hard.
