It's one of my favorite movies. It's very different kind of movie.

The movie is great. So is the books. It was done in installments. If I remember right there were 6 books. But now you can get it as one book. I really enjoyed it.

A good movie, but *warning* very gruesome execution scene in it. And some foul language.

I liked it, but my favorite 'prison' movie is still Shawshank Redemption.

We owned this movie for a while some years ago. It grew on me.
I mainly liked it for Dale and his mouse. "He'd a circus mouse" says Dale. That's funny
If you are thinking of watching it with kids who are messed up, or have backgrounds (even possibly) of being molested or raped, this is not a good movie to see. It will dig up the skeletons (bad memories) or may fuel inner desires of rape they may be battling. There is a rape scene with a Man and a child in the beginning. And the execution scene is probably gruesome though I likely fast forwarded that so I can't recall it. -
I need to watch the first part again....I missed the rape scene. I must have been getting my snacks ready.
I cried during the second half of the movie.
I enjoyed Shawshank REdemption tremendously. -
Because of the language and the other scenes, I like the broadcast tv versions better than my dvd's.
The Shawshank Redemption was excellect also. I like almost any Morgan Freeman movie. -

We have the movie. It is a good story. We have TV Guardian which filters out offensive language. It is a must in our home. I don't recall a rape scene in the movie other than it being implied. The execution scene is vivid. I cannot watch the actor who played "Percy" in anything else without seeing him in this film. He did a great job acting his part. His character is one that you love to hate.

Yeah, it is sort of implied if I remember right. It's a surreal type of scene, like being in a dream. Someone is running with the camera as if it was taken from the little girl's viewpoint while being chased. She is screaming and she drops her stuffed animal. There is blood and she is thrown in a river. It shows only tiny and quick portion of her body, maybe an arm, yet it's mostly her white dress. I think it is the very first scene in the movie thus easy to fast forward. It doesn't effect the movie at all. A portion of the same scene is repeated towards the end of the movie in an attempt to help viewers identify the rapist.

I have to say I liked Shawshank very much. Gotta keep watching it.

A very favorite movie of mine (The Green Mile, that is). However, NOT one that I can watch again--it was uplifting, in spite of the grisly, gritty content--BUT, it was very hard to watch. The acting in it was superb.

I must be the only one here who hated the movie :D
Dale was too "Christ like" for my liking, and the story was very fictional in a non fictional implied setting.
