    Savingly, as opposed to. .........in vain
    Some believe in God to the saving of their soul,from sins bondage. We are saved from the reigning power of sin.

    Some are said to believe IN VAIN.
    Conversion speaks to the whole man being converted and changed at regeneration and progressively being conformed to the image of the Son.
    Eph4 and 5......describes it.....you who stole,steal no more,rather labor....
    Let no unwholesome words proceed out of your mouth, but edify one another....etc.

    I don’t know about “all”, but when I speak of “conversion” I am speaking of man being made anew. Spiritually speaking there are only two categories of man – saved and lost (believer, non-believer; of Christ, of the world). Conversion is that supernatural work of God where God takes man from one condition to the other.

    I know you've a really big emphasis on false professors, but I think you've totally missed Paul's intent here.

    Compare 1 Cor 15:2:

    by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain.

    With 1 Cor 15:16-17

    For if the dead are not raised, neither hath Christ been raised:
    and if Christ hath not been raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

    I think the New Living Translation gets Paul's intent right:

    It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you--unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.

    It does not matter which translation you use here.
    What matters is a contrast. ....some believe in vain.....some cling to carnal security.

    Wrong Icon. Paul's presenting the theoretical that if Christ's resurrection is not true then you've believed in vain. No where in the text does he state 'SOME' have believed in vain. There's no mention of "clinging to carnal security".

    Nonsense....he preached saving truth
    There is nothing theoretical about it....

    Some denied the resurrection..
    ..he corrected them

    1 Corinthians 15King James Version (KJV)

    15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

    2 By which also ye are saved,
    if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you,
    unless ye have believed in vain.

    At this point there is nothing theoretical at all....and he cautions against a non saving belief. In 3-7...he puts the spotlight on the scriptures that Andy Stanley wants to look away from......
    there were people looking to deny the resurrection...he is getting to them, but does not fully do so until vs 12.....it is two different discussions;
