The voluble president hasn’t uttered a word on the shooting in Kansas that killed 32-year-old Indian techie Srinivas Kuchibhotla and injured two others. Kuchibhotla and his colleague, Alok Madasani, were grabbing a beer at a bar in Olathe when they were attacked by 51-year-old Adam Purinton, who apparently mistook them for Middle Eastern men. Ian Grillot, a patron who tried to intervene, was seriously injured.
“Get out of my country,” Purinton allegedly shouted, before opening fire.
Yes, because investigating murders in Kansas, arresting the offender, and locking him up is the President’s job, not the job of local law enforcement agencies.
I was thinking the same thing. Why on earth would we expect the President to comment on a local homicide? (Unless, of course, he wanted to exploit it for political gain).
It did make today's Wall Street Journal. In particular, the man who was wounded when he tried to intervene and the Applebee's manager who kept the suspect talking while the police were called to arrest him.
Murder of elected officials, murder of federal law enforcement officials, murder while committing a felony, murder while committing rape, murder while involved in drug trafficking, all are federal crimes and the suspect will be charged in federal court.
Which is wrong. You made a standalone statement here. You know I was referring to this statement of yours and now you are trying to obfuscate to cover up your error.
Leaving aside Srinivas Kuchibhotla is it your contention that "there is no federal law against murder except when committed in those limited areas where maritime and territorial jurisdiction applies. IE, the Territories of Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, United States Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.Included are the 11 uninhabited territories administered by the Interior Department, Palmyra Atoll, Baker Island, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, and Midway Islands. Claimed by the US, but disputed include Navassa Island, Wake Island, Serranilla Bankand Bajo Nuevo Bank.??
And that: "All 50 of the states, including Kansas, have State Preemption.??"
Yes. The entire statement is predicated on the subject of the OP, "The infuriating silence of Donald Trump over an Indian engineer’s murder in Kansas."
But my direct question to you was phrased, Leaving aside Srinivas Kuchibhotla...so I find it odd that you insist on ignoring my narrowing of the premise. Did you not see that part of my question? It's right before that lengthy section on territories that you pulled from Wikipedia.
